Hi All
Did anyone else in Somersoft do the test last Sunday 12th night.
FYI Channel 7 offered on test with answers on tv which gives you a score to use against a table as an indication of your life Expectency. Not Rocket Science exact but interesting anyhow. Stress and Driving had a lot to do with it. IE Motorbikers score badly due to fatal accident risk.
The averages (in years of life) for:
Male 78.8
Female 82.0
Personally my wife is 88.1 and myslef 81.7. Lost big points on being overweight but she got knocked in coping with stress.
The test can still be taken (very easy mutiple choice) on

Hi Geoff
Did you notice that people in Canberra are said to live longer (or perhaps it just seems longer). :D
Like the guy who told his doctor he wanted to live longer, and the doctor said, okay then, give up drinking, sex, eating meat, over excitement and take up meditation for 2 hours everyday.
The guy asked "Will that make me live longer?"
"Not really" said the Doc, "But it will certainly seem that way". ;)
My score 80.9, which surprised me, thought it might be less as already have high blood pressure, chlolestorol and ride a motor bike.
Luckily, there seems to be longevity in our family - families are good for something :p

Not much stress in sleepy old Canberra it seems :D
Peter
PS I must confess that my result is qualified as I am adopted and ticked DO NOT KNOW in the family history section which gave me more points than my wife whose parents are still kicking at 73.
Bit of fudge I think , effectively I could go any moment!

BTW I don’t know what this means but my wife and I scored differently on the sex life question.
We are not swingers so obviously we have a different understanding of frequency!
For a laugh, Peter 147

BTW I don’t know what this means but my wife and I scored differently on the sex life question. You probably had a difference on whether "infrequently" was one word or two.

I got 88.9, she got 92.4.
I don’t know what this means but my wife and I scored differently on the sex life question. We scored the same on that one....
Feel free to take a little break from the test now and help a loved one increase their life expectancy. .... but my suggestion that we follow the advice above in the summary of that section wasn't well received.:D

And they say we never do anything to help with their stress levels?!?!?

I was fit as a fiddle. Then one day at 33 yrs old I contracted a flu virus that destroyed my kidneys. Yrs on Dialysis. Then I was fortunate enough to receive a transplant of a donor kidney. :) (Trust you all agree to being a DONOR of used parts)? ;)
3 Mths ago a friend was diagnosed with cancer. He died two weeks ago. :(
In my opinion all this calculating just sells papers.
Live your life for now and enjoy the view. ;)
You may get hit by a bus crossing the road doing the survey.

Agree with you CC
Everyday is a gift, we go when its our time and not before or after, and no-one can tell when that will be, (we cant resist speculating though can we..)

I did the online test, it says my life expectancy is to 88. I think that's optimistic, we'll see...

I'm not that worried. When I go, I go. And if I go at 51 (next year) I'll be just as dead as if I died at 99- as a doddering old man whose sole enjoyment will be the pleasure of being alive after all my friends have died.
Of course, I'd prefer that I be around for long enough for my kids to grow up and untie the apron strings. And hopefully even learn something about money.
But that's for their sakes, not mine.

Dear guys,
Lifespans are growing. John Jacob Astor lived to 84 in 1848.

In the year 2048..... I can see some living to 120.
Test said 89.9 for myself. I'm sure they underestimated by 30 years. ;)
Leaps and bounds are being made in replacement body parts and the importance of attitude.
GeeCee, agree we should all appreciate what we have. It's also good to extend ones time so that we can do more good things for those around us. :)

Hi Everybody,
How do you all get better than 80?? Looks like another exam failed as it tells me I only get 77.1
But as long as you enjoy the journey and do right by others the length of it is not so important.
Enjoy the extra years guys.

I didn't do the test. I find it hard enough not to see myself as a 'dress size' let alone give myself an expected age. I guess my thought is that noone knows how long they will live because everything we do each day decides that age all over again... :)
All the best to those that did the test and got good results or a wake up call. Good on you for doing it.
