View Full Version : I want to be a dag - like James Morrison

Andrew Denton interviewed James last night, and sitting in the audience was his attractive wife (ex Miss Australia).
Several times Andrew asked her why she loved James - and she kept saying (about 7 times) "because he's such a dag".
Hooray for all Aussie dags -- you too can be (arguably) the worlds best modern trumpet player and be rich and have a smashing woman for a wife. :D
Where to I go to get dag lessons?
(please, no references to the rear end of sheep) :p

A forumite was once telling me how she destroyed her outdoor wooden furniture in fits of anger. The furniture was replaced with plastic furnitre. She nearly knocked herself out when attempting to smash the chair- it bounced back right onto her face.
(How's that for getting off topic?)

Garry,
If that avatar is a photo, drag those clothes back outta the cupboard, and I do believe you are pretty much there...
:D
Seriously though, I adore my other half coz... HE'S A DAG!!!
I have given up getting what he's wearing to match, and I have pretty much given up trying to get him to wear his good thongs when we go out to restaurants...
But I do adore him.
He's funny, cute, cuddly, gorgeous, smart, and best of all, he adores me! :)

I feel the need to point out that Morrison is not just a trumpet player. He's a master piano, trombone (in fact all brass), saxophone (all of them) player. So much so that in the States, he's known primarily for his trombone playing, even though he was lead trumpet player in the Philip Morris Super Band for a stint, and played off with Arturo Sanderval, Jon Faddis and Wynton Marsalis (may as well be GRP All Stars!!). In Europe he's known as a multi instrumentalist, which is what he is.
Morrison is one of the most under rated players in the world, mostly because he was producing very "commercial" music for quite a while in the 90s. But damn, he's a star. Show me someone else who can play trumpet while accompanying themselves on the piano at the same time. It's not just a party trick.

And he will come to the regional centres. I think he's great!

As I see it he is extroverted, balding, tubby, funny and real. Just like me.
Everything a model type is looking for after the pretty boys. Did you know a lot of woman avoid good looking guys because to quote one friend " I dont want to have to fight for the mirror or my husband every day".
Plus, a lot of stunning women
are never asked out by sober men because they are deemed unattainable
and/or
dont think they are that pretty.
Case in Point.
My wife is stunning and she still does not know how good she looks to other men. Serious issues in mother love here.
But she picked me and I was a dag. She has improved me a bit but you can only do so much with the base model:D
Celebrated 21 years dating, 15 years marraige last week.
Dags Rule!!! Peter 147
But damn, he's a star.
He's still a dag!!!
Admittedly, probably one of the most talented ones around, but a DAG nonetheless!

I hope my daughter gets to be like James Morrison.
It will make up for all the suffering we're going through now as she learns to play the trumpet :D
James Morrison has also appered in a CD for a group I really enjoy (I'm into vocal unaccompanied close harmony stuff). The group is "Idea of North"- from Canberra- they recently won a comp in the US as the best unaccompanied group in the world. (JM di accompany them for one track). A masterful group with a great sound.

It's my Son, and a Trombone here...
He is ONLY allowed to play it out on our back porch, and he 'chooses' ;) to point it at our rude noisy neighbors.. (Well, it's gotta point somewhere, and it ain't pointing back into my kitchen!!!)
I don't expect him to EVER sound anything like James Morrison, but gosh, I'd LOVE to be able to recognise... something... anything... :)

I'm having difficulty here imagining The Grouch dressed up, singing in a barbershop quartet. My imagination fails me!

Thommo,
Doesn't that make you old enough to start watching Sesame Street again? :D
Cheers,

Caveat: Acey is a closet Sesame Street watcher, but prefers Grover to Elmo.
