I'm going insane!!!! I want to buy gold, silver and palladium bars and I've called around all the coins dealers in melbourne (well nearly) and they can't help me.

Try the Perth Mint. You can buy pooled metal which is cheap (they can lease that metal back to short sellers) or bars in your own name which incur storage.
