There will actually be two events this year, following each other at the same venue.

At 1PM, we will be having speakers. Cost will be $5 pp. Then at 4PM, the caterers will start the BBQ (well maybe 5PM +). If the weather is fine, it will be outside otherwise there is plenty of room in the dining room. Cost will be $15 pp for the BBQ. This gets you gives 100g sirloin steak, two sausages, a lamb chop, an Italian sausage, marinated chicken breast, and salads and condiments.

The room is booked but we need indicative numbers for both the BBQ and presentation by next week, and confirmed numbers by 29 September.

Now the afternoon’s events…

We are going to do the speakers as a panel that way you can all ask plenty of questions. Because in the past we have always run out of time we have now extended the room hire to 3 hours.

Speakers for this event will be…

Penny Day

16 years experience as an architect and town planner- with a brief foray into law. She has extensive experience both in ACT and NSW town planning. In addition to her own experiences with renovating five properties, Penny has dealt with developments around NSW and ACT totaling many millions of dollars- including such diverse projects as the team leader for the ACT Bushfire Support Team, to the approval of the spires of St Mary's Cathedral in Sydney.

Julie Macken

3 years ago Julie and her husband Simon quit their jobs in the rat race to join the privileged few in self funded retirement. Julie will speak about how her life has changed since leaving paid employment. She will share her views on the psychology of successful people and what skills they have used to break out of the mould and lead a lifestyle that is quite unique.

Asy Hayes

Well known too many as a very active and creative real estate agent in Brisbane. She is president of the Brisbane Investors' Group, and is quite well versed in all aspects of property investing, whether that be Standard, Positive or Negative gearing, or Positive or Negative Cash flow strategies, through to Wraps, Lease Options, Flips, On sells, or Development. She has done most of these methods herself in one way or another. She is currently involved in property development, both sales and actually doing the job, and in "matchmaking" properties with buyers

Hello Geoff

As a Canberran (and happy to be) I read the above post with interest. Is this a "group" event??

Sounds like a good afternoon and relevant to us - we have Brissy IP's and plan to be self funded retirees in 4 years and 4 months, so would be keen to hear the speakers.

Cheers

Not sure what you mean by a "group" event.

We organise meetings monthly (rotating beteen Cashflow games, dining out, and speakers). Anybody is welcome to come.

You are more than welcome to come to either or both of the October 2 events. We have people coming from Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne. And possibly a few from Canberra.

If you want to be notified of the regular events as they happen, send an email to Ed at the above address and ask to be included on the list.

Would like to see someone post a summary of the day with some photos :D Somebody else has to take some pix- MrsW just took the juniorWs (and the camera) O/S for 6 weeks. Hint Hint. Phil_H?

(Or maybe an excuse for a new digital camera?)

But for the more important bit, I don't think any of the presenters are planning a Powerpoint Presentation- I hope not- we don't have those facilities at the venue.

Excellent Asy. I assumed that this was the case (about Powerpoint thingies).

I will be conspiring with fellow presenter Penny Day tomorrow- I believe there will be no hi tech requirement there either.

But your photo is already on record :D

Two days away, and it's shaping up well.

Can anybody who has not yet responded, please do so ASAP, as we do need to have numbers close to correct (especially for the BBQ part).

Similarly, if you have indicated you are coming, and now cannot, please let Ed ( ed@loansapproved.com.au) know ASAP, if you have not done so already.

:) thanks geoff, would have taken you up on your offer, but we are away to the coast for the week. Dining out and speakers sounds good, I will register my interest with ed. Now off to get ready to trial a restaurant at Griffith shops - looking for a venue for our daughter's 21st dinner - tough research, but someone has to do it!

cheers

Well it was a great event.

Well done Mr Ed, Mrs Ed & Geoffw on organising the BBQ.

Kudos to Julie, Asy & Savannah who gave great presentations!

Even my son reckoned that what you said made sense Julie (he's at the 7-up age)!

Asy, you made masterful use of the whiteboard.

Savannah - please let us know when we can add a couple more stories to our places in core regions in the Belconnen area.

BTW Geoff, you need to change your avatar now you've killed that nasty fungal growth on your chin :D

Cheers,

Aceyducey

hehe, Lucky that whiteboard was there, I was confusing enough WITH it, I fear.. :o

I just wanted to say Thanks HEAPS to MrEd and Geoofw (and of course MrsEd) for organising the day, it was great. I had an absolute ball, and I hope to be back next year!

I had fun finally meeting Julie and Savanna, have talked lots to them online, but it's good to meet ppl face to face! I learned lots from them too, it's amazing how much you can pick up at these networking meets. :)

I was very priveleged to be invited to speak with two such amazing women, Julie's renovating style is fantastic (hehe, well Simon AND Julies!) and she's inspirational in her outlook. As for Savanna, well, what to say, Flu and all, the woman's brilliant. :)

Thanks again...
