The links in my subscription email notifications don't seem to work. A typical one looks like this.

http://www.somersoft.com/forums/showthread.php?t=3D19051&goto=3Dnewpost (showthread.php?t=3D19051&goto=3Dnewpost)

If I get rid of the '3D" after the t=, then it's okay. I've looked through my CP settings, but I can't see anything that might change it. What's going on and how can I fix it?

Gosh. I must be the only one with the problem. Hmmmm...fair enough.

Wierd.. "3D" is Hex for Decimal 61. Decimal 61 is the ASCII value for a "=" symbol, its almost like your mail client or browser is screwing the URL up a bit, and attempting (somewhat lamely) to 'escape' out what it perceives to be a character that needs escaping. The character its escaping is still present however and its failing to preface the escape string with a "%" symbol..

What mail client and browser are you using?

Are you using a WebBased email client perhaps? Some of those are a bit cheap and nasty with the way they parse things..

EDIT:

I did some more digging and it does appear to be an email client problem, Eudora and Outlook Express according to this thread (http://www.vbulletin.com/forum/showthread.php?t=99039&highlight=3dnewpost) at the VBulletin support forums (VBulletin is the forum software).

No solution I'm afraid..

Yep. I use Eudora. I looked up on their support thread as well and it doesn't look like there's a fix and the latest version doesn't help either.

Oh well. Guess I gotta live with it. Or migrate to Thunderbird. :D

thanks for looking.

I also use Eudora, version 6.2 and I dont have the problem.

Dont rush to Thunderbird.. I migrated for a few weeks and switched back to Eudora. I found Thunderbird still slightly buggy and not as powerful as Eudora, especially in the way it handles multiple email accounts and in its Filtering functionality.

Here's another thought..

I've turned off Eudora's use of Microsoft's HTML Viewer..

Go to Options -> Viewing Mail.. make sure "Use Microsofts Viewer" is clicked off. Good security move even if it doesnt help this particular problem.

Thanks for all your efforts, Duncan. I've decided to lump this problem in the "too hard" basket for now. Some things, I'll have to live with. I'll keep mucking around with the options. Maybe I'll bump into something one day.

:D:D
