You have achieved a level of passive income to enable you to stop working and finally:
* Sleep in every day till whatever time suits you – what time would you get up?
* Spend as much or as little time doing whatever you like – what would you do?
* Buy all the “doodads” (material objects) that money can buy without concern – what would you buy?
* Travel the world as often as your heart desires – where would you go and for how long?
And lastly, once all of this is done; you have bought all the material things, travelled the world over, slept in day after day, and sat around bored silly – WHAT THEN???
Look forward to your views!!! ;)
Cheers,
Jo
Oops nearly forgot.....there is ONE condition: that you are older than 18 but younger than 60 hence, spending time with friends can be difficult because unlike you, THEY still have to work. :(
You have achieved a level of passive income to enable you to stop working and finally:
* Sleep in every day till whatever time suits you – what time would you get up?
Probably midday unless I had something important to do that day :D
* Spend as much or as little time doing whatever you like – what would you do?
Probably work out and get fit. Go out for dinner at a nice resturant every few days. Go on holidays like every 2nd month. Spend lots of time with future (hopefully one day) family.
* Buy all the “doodads” (material objects) that money can buy without concern – what would you buy?
One of those ultra modern houses with an indoor pool! :p. A really nice upmarket Jaguar car or something classy like that. Really nice computer and home entertainment system.
* Travel the world as often as your heart desires – where would you go and for how long?
Everywhere!.....
I remember it was this guru investor (can't remember his name off the top of my head) who said "take 2 weeks out of every month to go on holiday". I think thats wise once ur financially set. I would take a 1 month holiday every 2 months.
And lastly, once all of this is done; you have bought all the material things, travelled the world over, slept in day after day, and sat around bored silly – WHAT THEN???
Probably start my own charity or something.........
The Qazi Foundation :D
I dunno what causes I will give to yet. But it would be one of those funds that all half the yield is reinvested and the other half is given to charity thereby ensuring the fund lasts indefinately.
By the way, great post....i would give you more kudos if I could.

You have achieved a level of passive income to enable you to stop working and finally:
* Sleep in every day till whatever time suits you – what time would you get up?
7am, sleeping in is slothful and robs you of energy :)
* Spend as much or as little time doing whatever you like – what would you do?
I'd seek out new skills to learn and spend my time honing them. I'd find some more classic trucks and cars to restore, I'd spend time with my kids at school, I'd spend time with my kids on weekends, I'd watch lots of Discovery and How-To television, I'd read lots, I'd learn to cook Thai food properly, I'd exercise lots, I'd sack the cleaner and keep the house clean myself.
* Buy all the “doodads” (material objects) that money can buy without concern – what would you buy?
Lots and lots of tools! :) Spanners, wrenches, screwdrivers, power tools, spray guns, chisels, hammers, welding gear, plumbing gear, electrical tools, gardening tools, car tools, boat tools, brickers tools, micrometers, carpenters tools, roofers tools, Aircon Mechanic Tools, concreting tools, tiling tools, auto-electrician tools, glaziers tools, painters tools, nail guns, brad nailers, staplers, lathes, drill presses, mills. Oh the list goes on so much! :)
* Travel the world as often as your heart desires – where would you go and for how long?
I wouldnt travel much, I quite like being at home, I'd go to the Bedford Gathering in England each year. If the kids wanted to go somewhere I'd take them.
And lastly, once all of this is done; you have bought all the material things, travelled the world over, slept in day after day, and sat around bored silly – WHAT THEN???
Find more trucks to restore and maybe a tank or an armoured car as well, and a big prime mover, an old steam engine, a tractor, a motorcycle and maybe an old boat.
Oops nearly forgot.....there is ONE condition:[/B] that you are older than 18 but younger than 60 hence, spending time with friends can be difficult because unlike you, THEY still have to work. :(
This is an important point.. I think its important to develop "sets" of friends.. a set in the same age group who are facing the same challenges (kids etc), many "sets" with the same interests (hobbies, investing). That way you're not dependent on your classic set of friends for social interaction.
I have a feeling this is going to break the record for the longest post ---- scroll wise :D
what time would you get up?
Depended on what the surf was like or my tee time :)
what would you do?
Guess !! :) also throw in some time everyday for investment activities cause I enjoy it.
what would you buy?
Come on guys......Heaps of **** !!!! :)
where would you go and for how long?
I'm not really into the overseas travel bit, but I'd probably go for long stints up the coast for a bit of surfin or golfin,,,,,how long??? as long as it takes :)
WHAT THEN???
I'd be living my wet dream,,,,so probably more of the same :)
About the One Condition!
Well,,,not all of my friends work. But I'd tell them what the surf was like over a beer after work and chuck in a video hehe poor things :)
too many smilies in this post me thinks :D :D :D
Damn!!!!!!!!!!!!We get censored here LOL :p :p :p

Sleep in every day till whatever time suits you – what time would you get up?
I am now into my third month home and funnily enough I wake up the same time as when I got up for work for the past 40 odd years, must be habit. Now though, I get up make a coffee and Al and I sit up in bed and listen to the radio drinking our coffee, instead of me throwing mine down my throat and running for the train leaving Al sitting in bed slowing drinking his coffee, (he has worked at home for the past 15 years).
* Spend as much or as little time doing whatever you like – what would you do?
Whatever I want - at the moment I am walking daily and writing How to Books for work - so still working but at home - my choice for the time being
* Buy all the “doodads” (material objects) that money can buy without concern – what would you buy? -
Shoes mainly and books
* Travel the world as often as your heart desires – where would you go and for how long?
Off to London/Barcelona and London/Tuscany in September and Cairns for the June long weekend with various groups of friends
And lastly, once all of this is done; you have bought all the material things, travelled the world over, slept in day after day, and sat around bored silly – WHAT THEN???
Renovating, updating, looking for more opportunities
ONE condition: that you are older than 18 but younger than 60 hence, spending time with friends can be difficult because unlike you, THEY still have to work
Not quite in this (61) but friends all still working - I go into town and meet them for lunch, after work, go for a meal, joined Pilates in town with a group of friends, make new friends who are not working
The main thing I see as important is to keep the brain active, get onto the chat, make sure there is daily contact with outside interests.

Ohh goody, I like pretend games...
Well, i don't think I could sleep in each day. I s'pose I would be awake aroun 6.30am in summer and maybe 7.30am in winter. Gotta love that cozy feeling....
I would do a lot more craft hobbies. I love making things, sewing, mosaicing, fabric painting etc etc... Go to the gym and join different clubs here and there.
Hmm.. What would I buy, I think I'd buy a kick **** sound system for the house so that if I was working outside, I press a button I could have the radio, cd's any music I wanted.... where ever I was in the house.. Speakers in built everywhere. A new car. I don't think a flash one though. One that I would upgrade every couple of years...
Travelling. Well, I heard of a couple that wanted to learn a new language so they spent 6 months a year renting a house in Tuscany so they could learn Italian. Once they learnt one language enough to be fairly fluent (It took a couple of years) then they would go to a different country. That would appeal to me for a bit. I dunno about the 6 months though. Maybe 2 or 3 months a year somewhere else. Definitely in Europe or Africa somewhere.
If I have done all that and still need something to do, I think I would go back to university to study child psychology and work part time or unpaid as a counsellor at a high school. And if I change my mind there, I think I would just keep having babies... I would love to have a big family, but the reality of that happening is close to NEVER happening. Looks like two kids will be it... Ho hum...

* Sleep in every day till whatever time suits you – what time would you get up?
Early enough to spend breakfast with my younger son and ride to school on the bike path.
* Spend as much or as little time doing whatever you like – what would you do?
Get back and go with Dr Quiggles to the gym. come back home, do the accounts and organise the empire until about lunch time. Look for deals and ways to keep things going. Spend the afternoons relaxing, philosphising and reading.
* Buy all the “doodads” (material objects) that money can buy without concern – what would you buy?
I would occasionally hire a flash car for fun, but I don't need to own one. But I'd have a nice car - comfortable, flexible and useful. I'd have really well fitting clothes and shoes, even if they had to be tailored/cobbled. And I'd make sure that my food was really top quality. Good wine also.
* Travel the world as often as your heart desires – where would you go and for how long?
Everywhere, both in Australia and overseas, for a couple of months twice a year. At least business class thanks.
And lastly, once all of this is done; you have bought all the material things, travelled the world over, slept in day after day, and sat around bored silly – WHAT THEN???
I wouldn't get bored. I'd keep going, but I might also act either as an investment guru for the fun of it - I like lecturing people :D - or poossibly as an angel investor and mentor to those who have everything except money and education.
Oops nearly forgot.....there is ONE condition: that you are older than 18 but younger than 60 hence, spending time with friends can be difficult because unlike you, THEY still have to work. :(
Friends are for the evening, but I'd make sure they know I still have to work each day and may never retire, so that it doesn't become an issue. It'd let them feel superior.

You have achieved a level of passive income to enable you to stop working and finally:
* Sleep in every day till whatever time suits you – what time would you get up?
I would wake with the morning light, I hate getting at 6:00am when it is dark and cold (like japan) is currently. Again I dont like sleeping in on a consistent basis. Wake in the morning and followed by exercise (a martial art when good breathing is required)
* Spend as much or as little time doing whatever you like – what would you do?
Time with my kids, travel with family.
* Buy all the “doodads” (material objects) that money can buy without concern – what would you buy?
I love physical "things"! Computers, TVs, HiFi, Cars, Cameras. So a home wi-fi network connected to 100base/t fibre internet backbone. (Actually got it). Computers, well a dual 64 bit CPU (http://www.amd.com/us-en/Processors/ProductInformation/0,,30_118_9485_9488,00.html) with 8GB ram and 1TB raid. Maybe some imacs. TV's new 60in TFT or new SED technology. Hi-Fi: You can really burn money hear but something very nice but not stupidly so ( tip nobody can tell the difference between $100 cables and $10,000 cables, they only think they can) I have always had a soft spot for McIntosh (http://www.mcintoshlabs.com/mcprod/shopdisplayproducts.asp?id=14&cat=Power+Amplifiers&prodid=1043&product=MC501) and Duntech (http://www.duntech.com.au/images/all.html)
Cars: I love them I just purchased the biggest dodad of my life a brand new E240 (http://www.autoweb.com.au/cms/cars/new/ID_MERE24EL2126C3A/search_ID|MER|P|80|results|TRUE|/vehicle.html) and a nice thing it is too...so no more cars for 10 years! However a sporty SL500 (http://www.autoweb.com.au/cms/cars/new/ID_MERSL5--R250DIS/search_ID|MER|P|100|results|TRUE|/vehicle.html) or 911 (http://content3.us.porsche.com/prod/911/carrera.nsf/ausenglish/highlightsintro) parked next to the E240 "family" car would be nice.
Cameras: I love Nikon so a new digital body such as the D2X (http://nikonimaging.com/global/products/digitalcamera/slr/d2x/index.htm) plus of course a full kit of pro-level the lenses.
* Travel the world as often as your heart desires – where would you go and for how long?
Well now you are talking! I love travel, meeting people. Firstly I would travel the world with my kids on some kind of educational journey with my family at least 1 year. I love cooking so I would like to spend several months time in a number of countries learning (France, China, Thailand, Japan).
And lastly, once all of this is done; you have bought all the material things, travelled the world over, slept in day after day, and sat around bored silly – WHAT THEN???
The AL Foundation! Keeping Cambodian girls (boys to) from being sold into forced prosititution (http://www.uri.edu/artsci/wms/hughes/cambodia.htm) (as if 15 year olds have a choice) and certain early death due to Aids.
...stop dreaming need to wake up at 6am in the dark and in the cold for another week at work!

What a great set of Q's.....
1. I would get up around 7am - life is too short to sleep it away
2. I would work on my fitness and wellbeing - when I get bored with that I would expand my empire for the benefit of the land bank I will establish.
3. I have all the doodads I need - but I would build my dream home on acreage near the beach and have a chef and personal trainer :D
4. I would travel to South America and learn Spanish. Then I would travel through Europe. Having a house in Spain and living there 6mths a year and here 6mth would be nice.
5. Keep working on my land bank and other worthwhile causes. Mentor others so they can achieve their dreams like I have.
So Mon - what are your answers?

So Mon - what are your answers?
Fair call Eco, it's only fitting that as I asked of others, so too, I should answer same. So here goes:
* what time would you get up?
Between 6.00 - 6.30am most mornings; I like to get up and go for a run UNLESS I was called out during the night in which case, I like to sleep in, but generally, 6 hours is my max.
* what would you do?
I read lots, go for long walks, or spend time lazing by the pool (weather permitting). I particularly enjoy spending time with my husband and kids. My son comes over once (sometimes twice) a week to get his "fix of mum's cooking" which he claims is the hardest thing about living away from home!!!
* what would you buy?
Now this was a tough one for me, I have all the "doodads" I could want, and I can only buy so many belts, handbags, fragrances, and bits of jewellery!!! Although I must admit I do have a shoe fetish and consequently am up to my 25th pair!!! :o For the most part, I don't enjoy shoping unless it is for someone else. I find it is boring and I end up either adding to my collection of dust catchers or creating less space in my already shrinking wardrobes.
* where would you go and for how long?
Again, a tough one. I have been travelling since I was 12, and after seeing most the world, I don't aspire to see much of it again in a hurry. But if I did have to choose a place, it would definitely be the COOK ISLANDS; we were married there and I fell in love with the people, the culture, and the ever so beautiful picture perfect, white sandy beaches!!!
We are going to the US in March, but that is mostly for my husband and my little girl; given the choice, I wouldn't bother!!! Personally, I love small villages with friendly communities of "real" people as opposed to glitsy lavishly ornate clad hotels full of snotty nosed a** kissing staff that are only polite because you're going to give them a tip!!!
Oops nearly forgot.....there is ONE condition: that you are older than 18 but younger than 60 hence, spending time with friends can be difficult because unlike you, THEY still have to work.
Yep, this can be difficult. Luckily, we have friends of different ages, and most of the time is spent around those older than we are, simply because those closer in age to ourselves seem to be working longer hours and so the little free time they do have is spent with their families (as it should be).
People don't understand, that friendships are not just about having common interests (albeit that's important), when you are on different financial levels it can really challenge the strength of relationships.
Whoever said money doesn't change people, either didn't have any money or any friends!!! :(
Hey I like that quote, has anyone used it or can I claim it as my own??? :p
Cheers,
Jo

q1.i still wake up the same time,5 every day i just wish the days could be longer.
q2.even when you stop work which i did 5 years ago,you still work in different ways its just that its your personal time, no one else owns or controls your time.10 hours a weeks watching the share markets,2 hours on property problems, the rest of my time is all spent with my family and working out what to buy for a dollar a sell for 2.and 1morning a week helping feed the lost, that live in inner city brisbanes parks and run down building, always keep that in your mind anyone can fall into that mind trap..
q3.what would i buy??
i have everything that i will ever need. property, shares, artwork, cars, boats,
means nothing if you are not happy with yourself in the first place, only the mind can cure the mind.
q4.we are still finding places in this great country, the blue highway is all the same in australia or overseas..
good luck

i think my answers would change over time.....
but for the time being - if this was possible may answers are as follows
1) wake up - not my choice. my daughter is the master of this domain. i love the mornings anyway so not an issue. if i could do anything though it would be to have a catnap everyarvo at 2pm...
2) what would i do?? - i would spend the first 3 months trying to be a free spirit. relaxing, thinking, being creative, travel, play music etc etc. when my mind is clear form all the crap thats consumed my 34 years of trying to achieve a level of wealth..............then i would plot my next move.
i have visions of myself writing a book, playing a solo gig at a dingy pub with my wife and daughter looking on, having an awesome shed (Huge) with workbench, heaps of tools, maybe a sound proofed area with 4 or five guitars and a 5 track. Maybe a golf pro???
theres no point being rich and lonely so i would want to be loved by everyone (counting crows). so would need to look at the good i can do....charity, lending an ear etc etc...smart selfishness...
3) buy - not much. i have everything i want at the moment. probably a more relaible car that doesnt breakdown everythime i use the airconditioner.
4) travel - again on a add hoc basis. like most of you have travvelled heaps over the years so i have no reall pull to go anywhere. occassionally i get pangs to do another trek, or ly on beech somewhere. events - US master golf, Olympics, World cup soccer.....
5) what then - keep going - enjoy the journey. help others main priority - charity, foundation etc
maybe someone should call pat rafter - im sure these are the questions he asks himself everyday - and the ******* looks way too healthy....good work if ya get it!!!

Oops nearly forgot.....there is ONE condition: that you are older than 18 but younger than 60 hence, spending time with friends can be difficult because unlike you, THEY still have to work. :(
1.) Probably around 8.30am or so, to do some research before market opens at 10.00.
2.) Would study all the things I'm interested in such as archaeology, forensic science, psychology etc as it is extremely hard to study these courses part time while working unless you have a very understanding boss! Oh, and trade shares during the market hours as well.
3.) I would buy a new computer and a VCR/DVD recorder that worked properly! Oh, and lots more shoes.... and a LV handbag.
4.) I would go on a road trip around Oz stopping everywhere and seeing everything first. Also Europe, but I am terrified of flying so it may never happen.
5.) Do it all again! Additionally I would volunteer a lot of my time (and money)to charities such as RSPCA etc.
Cheers

what time would you get up?
7.00am is my preferred time - sometimes 6.30.
what would you do?
I would:
learn photography
learn French, Italian and Greek
take pottery and ceramics classes
work out
gardening
cook
travel
get more involved (possibly seek a board position) with the Big Sister Big Brother program
read
spend time with family
what would you buy?
Nothing really - I'm not into shopping really, and I have everything I need or want, but it's satisfying knowing that I'm able to buy absolutely anything I want regardless of cost. My husband would want to buy a boat and a Mazzerati.
where would you go and for how long?
Dubai, Greece, Italy, Switzerland, USA, Canada, Germany, Nepal, Tibet, India, Hong Kong, Peru, Mexico. I would want to absorb myself in each culture and visit the villages rather than do the touristy thing. I envisage that would be one country per trip per year. And throughout the year I'd do Australia.
And lastly, once all of this is done; you have bought all the material things, travelled the world over, slept in day after day, and sat around bored silly – WHAT THEN???
I'd still have "work" to occupy myself with too, but it would now be more of a hobby rather than work - I don't think I'd ever be able to give that up.
Oops nearly forgot.....there is ONE condition: that you are older than 18 but younger than 60 hence, spending time with friends can be difficult because unlike you, THEY still have to work. :(
Well, I'll have to find some non-working friends too. :)

a mate of mine is still in the navy and is currently serving on a warship.
(i resigned 2 years ago)
he has told me over and over that i cant do it. theres no way i'm ever going to be rich etc.
i would love to travel to every port he is going to... and wait on the wharf for him. :)

Great post.
"Sleep in" till around 07:00 to 07:30 , gotta get those kids off to school !!
What would you do:
Play golf at least twice a week (and teach my wife to play :D ).
Help out at kids school a lot more often.
Keep the house looking tidy; search the net for more bargains and keep that paperwork up the date  ;get fitter.
Doodads :
Buy a nicer house - either one 5 acres maybe 20 mins up the road ("land bank") , or overlooking that grade 1 championship golf course , or near a beach.
Probably buy all the little doodads ; but for the life of me I cannot think of all that many I REALLY want :p ... I guess I will see when I get there - although an upgrade to the gold membership of the SCG would be nice for myslef and family. Also a house in the snow (Thredbo) and another near a beach (maybe Forster) wouldn't go astray.
Where would you go and for how long:
Well each school holidays would be a trip to somewhere , perhaps overseas in xmas holidays, Forster in April, snow in July, QLD in October.
"And lastly, once all of this is done; you have bought all the material things, travelled the world over, slept in day after day, and sat around bored silly – WHAT THEN??? "
I could never really "retire", I would help my kids learn how to invest for themselves. I would be giving money to charity to help others less fortunate as well. And I would probably continue to look for bargains myself, for the fun of it.

* Sleep in every day till whatever time suits you – what time would you get up?
Sleeping is a waste of time. We only have on average 80 years on the planet - I think I would sleep less. Less tired from working etc.
* Spend as much or as little time doing whatever you like – what would you do?
Writing, filiming, editing and dating starlets.
* Buy all the “doodads” (material objects) that money can buy without concern – what would you buy?
P51 Mustang
* Travel the world as often as your heart desires – where would you go and for how long?
Everywhere - 4 months a year.
And lastly, once all of this is done; you have bought all the material things, travelled the world over, slept in day after day, and sat around bored silly – WHAT THEN???

* Sleep in every day till whatever time suits you – what time would you get up?Between 8 and 10 depending on what was on for the day. If kids arrive then it would be whatever time needed to get them up, ready, breakfasted and driven to school.
* Spend as much or as little time doing whatever you like – what would you do?List is endless. Woodwork classes, cooking classes, personal improvement lessons. Anything I needed or wanted to do, from baking a cake to servicing a car, would result in me learning how to do it myself.
* Buy all the “doodads” (material objects) that money can buy without concern – what would you buy?Being a Geek at heart it would have to be masses of AV/PC equipment. I'd end up with a house so 'smart' that it would become a reference point in the industry.
* Travel the world as often as your heart desires – where would you go and for how long?Without a doubt plan my long desired sporting holiday. Go and see every major sporting event in the world for a year. From the SuperBowl, FA Cup final, Monaco GP, French Open, etc. Anything that's big enough to be televised on Free to Air TV would be on the list, plus some more abstract ones like the Gaelic & Hurling finals.
And lastly, once all of this is done; you have bought all the material things, travelled the world over, slept in day after day, and sat around bored silly – WHAT THEN??? Make a difference. Find a cause or charity the can best use my skills and resources to make life better for someone.
Oops nearly forgot.....there is ONE condition: that you are older than 18 but younger than 60 hence, spending time with friends can be difficult because unlike you, THEY still have to work. :(Somehow I think that if I had time and money for all of the above, I'd find plenty of people willing to be my 'friend'.

what time would you get up?
Sleeping away your live is not my idea of fun! ;) Presently get up about 8Am and have a leasurly breakfast. Don't make a move again until 9 - 9:30 during which time I will have been on the Net on variuos forums email phoned my business. (even when retired would expect to be involved in a business).
I keep tropical fish so part of my routine is to tend to my fish. If I have a lot of time then this may take 2 hours each morning if for some reason I don't have time then 15min. Have been getting to the office between 11 and midday, leave again by 3. In fact its a hassle when I have to meet people as I suddenly have time contraints rather than my rather fluid approach to the day.
what would you do?
Presently my main interest is fish keeping. If I take up another hobby then so be it.
what would you buy?
Financially can buy whatever I like rightnow but don't. Would buy a F250 dual cab if I could convince myself that it wouldn't just be a gross waste of money. As with all things you own there is a certain amount of time required to tend to the item or make use of it etc and as I find that time is really my limiting factor ie what I want to spend time on , in turn that limits what I want to own.
where would you go and for how long?
My style of hols is to get really involved in the culture of the place which really means living where ever for extended periods of time. At present I would love to spend and extended period of time in Africa around Lake Malawi and Tanganika. Something like 3 to 6 months. But as time constraints will always apply can only do it in 3-4 week periods. Last year went to Malawi planning to go to Zambia this year.
WHAT THEN???
If I got bored with my hobby I would move on to another hobby. I am not one for sitting still might do a night course take up dancing whatever and meet lots of new people. Build a house just for the hell of it!!!;)
Wait for the next property cycle to add dramatically to my wealth, in the mean time just add slowly
About the One Condition!
Doesn't matter have the same situation now always able to catch up with people on the phone. My live doesn't hinge on spending all my hours with other people, admittedly I need contact but only in smallish durations.

Presently my main interest is fish keeping.
At present I would love to spend and extended period of time in Africa around Lake Malawi and Tanganika.
Sounds like you are a Cichlid (http://philip.greenspun.com/aquarium/fish) guy! I love them but as the article points out you should avoid swallowing them.

Hi all,
Offtopic.
Handyandy, a bit of a cichlid lover are you, judging from where you want to go. We use to have a wonderful pet in one of our tanks by the name of "Oscar", I don't think I need to tell you what he was(not your area I know).
I don't have the tanks set up anymore, but perhaps you could post some pics of your pride and joys in the gallery.

Just in case you dont know what an Oscar is...well in the fish keeping world it is not an award for moving pictures. It is a kind of ugly but cute and friendly Cichlid fish (A freshwater bony fish from South America) Astonotus ocellatus
http://www.oscarfish.com/gallery/albums/userpics/18953/Oscar12.jpg
They love to eat and eat well and eat lots often: crickets, eathworms, goldfish, pellets, shrimps, basically anything that fits in there mouths!
Now we are really off topic! Anyway have to wake up in the dark and cold for another day of NOT doing what I wish I was doing!

What time would I get up?
Probably around 10am. I'm a night owl. Even now I rarely go to bed before 12 or 1 and wake up at 7 for work. If I didn't need to wake up for work, I'd go to bed around 3 or 4 in the morning at the earliest. For me, it's not about getting up late = lazy, for me it's making maximum use of the time that you are awake.
What would I do?
One of my plans for once I have achieved my financial goals is to build and operate an indoor skatepark close to the Melbourne CBD. So I'd probably work on that. Get into photography much more than currently. Eat out most nights.
What would I buy?
Lots and lots and lots of records. Music is the core of my life, it's something I could never live without. Oh, and buy a really nice system to play the records.
Where would I travel?
Everywhere. Travelling has always been a dream of mine, but something I haven't done yet. My plan is to spend about three consecutive months of the year travelling. First destinations are definitely Asia and South America.
Once I've achieved all these things?
Well, I'll have management in place at the skatepark, I'll likely still be travelling, spending a lot of time in the darkroom. Other than that, I'd like to devote some of my time to helping others. I had a discussion recently with a friend along these lines and she told me "Gee, it'd be great to travel and do all that - for a holiday. But I'd really like to be doing something worthwhile with my life like giving back to the community." Sounds pretty good to me.
The one condition
Well, I've never really thought about this to honest. I'm a naturally reclusive person, so being surrounded by people has never really been a issue for me. I could quite happily spend most of my days alone with little outside contact.

What time would I get up?
Wouldn't set the alarm so I would get up when ever but that is usually between 6 and 7 am.
What would I do?
Surf, Windsurf, Golf, Gardening, Reno Houses, Bike Ride, Excersie, Go for walks with wife, go out to lunch, learn to paint, learn blacksmithing, learn other skills, do some adult education. Fishing. Invest.
Would also continue to invest in property, shares, and business's.
Would also go and do some paid work 3-6 months each year.
What would I buy?
toys lots and lots of big boys toys, tools, cars, nice swimming pool, the couple of blocks behind our house, I'd buy a car to play with but I'd make sure I had a family car that I could drive to the shops and not worry too much about it getting scratched. Windsurfing gear is great I can buy enough to be able to go sailing in almost any wind strength. A boat would be nice not sure if I want a big one or just a run about to go fishing in. Nice cloths. More wine and I would build a proper cellar for the wife to keep her wine collection in. I'd buy some business's that way I could help the local economy, give some people employment, sponsor some local activities.
Where would I travel?
I'd get a caravan go around Oz, would also like to do more of the pacific islands, would be nice to take the family to Europe so they can see the history, those old buildings, china would be good same reason and korea and japan.
Once I've achieved all these things?
I would just keep doing more of the same.
The one condition
It's not an issue, if I keep working for a few months each year I get to stay in touch with work mates, caravaning will get you meeting other people and there are plenty to meet at adult training, surfing, windsurfing, golf. I'll have the business's so will need to keep talking to those managers. Should be plenting of social contact, also got the wife and 3 kids, and this forum.
cheers

And lastly, once all of this is done; you have bought all the material things, travelled the world over, slept in day after day, and sat around bored silly – WHAT THEN???
Go back to work of course !!
. . . but continue to do all of the above :D

Exactly!!! ;) Thanks Steve, don't know if it was intentional but quoting just that one question made me realise it was the only one which I completely forgot to answer for myself!! :o

You have achieved a level of passive income to enable you to stop working and finally:
* Sleep in every day till whatever time suits you – what time would you get up?
Tricky question, when you dont have much to look forward to in life you tend to love sleep more, but if I was able to stop working I would probably be ready to attack the day much earlier. I will go with 8am on this one.
* Spend as much or as little time doing whatever you like – what would you do?
Play games, play golf, tour wineries, convince my mates to take sickies and go to the beach with me.
* Buy all the “doodads” (material objects) that money can buy without concern – what would you buy?
Nice boat, Mercedes, Kick Butt wardrobe, nice set of golf clubs and a totally awesome home theatre big enough to seat all my friends with my own popcorn machine.....oh and my own winery.
* Travel the world as often as your heart desires – where would you go and for how long?
I have travelled western europe so... I would go around australia nice and slowly and get to know my own coutry like the back of my hand. Then I would go on a cruise around the world, stopping off at as many tropical islands as possible :)
And lastly, once all of this is done; you have bought all the material things, travelled the world over, slept in day after day, and sat around bored silly – WHAT THEN???
Develop my book series more, and become a world renowned author and historian.

Well I get up prety late most days anyway, so it wouldn't make a difference.
Spend as much or as little time doing whatever you like – what would you do?
I'd like to write a book or travel article without an editor breathing down my neck. Other than that, eat, sleep, and play :D

Ski in Antartica, dive into a volcano in a helicopter, and go to Mars (I figure by the time I retire they've probably set up a colony there or something).
And lastly, once all of this is done; you have bought all the material things, travelled the world over, slept in day after day, and sat around bored silly – WHAT THEN???
Probably never get to this stage. At the very end, I'll probably learn programming and design a virtual reality world...

* Sleep in every day till whatever time suits you – what time would you get up?
Have kids and need to get them off to school, so a 6.30am start is a good sleep in. Also too much sleep is slothful. I like staying up late but will always get the wife getting the kids to wake me up in the morning to my digust.
* Spend as much or as little time doing whatever you like – what would you do?
Having taken all the time interested in property to get here, why not continue? Play golf, go to the gym, spend afternoons drinking in the local watering hole in the warm sunshine with my wife.
* Buy all the “doodads” (material objects) that money can buy without concern – what would you buy?
Dream home on the beach with broad balconies. His and hers beamers with some sort of poncy matching rego's, the biggest mother f*$%er LCD/Plasma screen and invite friends over for a movie night. 50' Bertram with twin jetskis outback and the list would be endless.........
* Travel the world as often as your heart desires – where would you go and for how long?
Depends how long the Bertam would take? With all the world problems. Good old Oz is just dandy thanks.
And lastly, once all of this is done; you have bought all the material things, travelled the world over, slept in day after day, and sat around bored silly – WHAT THEN???
Do it all again. People seem to do it day in and out in a JOB why not without one? I have stated to firends and rellies that I WILL be retiring at 45. Have even said that there will be the mother of all parties (such as flying all up to Broome and spending the week relaxing roung the pools).
Oops nearly forgot.....there is ONE condition:[/B] that you are older than 18 but younger than 60 hence, spending time with friends can be difficult because unlike you, THEY still have to work.
Friends don't understand now and can't relate. No change in retirement.

What time would I get up?
Im not a morning person - if I dont have to beat the crowds to the snow probably a bit later.
Spend as much or as little time doing what you want, what would you do?
Id do what I do now - maybe bump the 75-100days I snowboard a year up a bit - Id fit in some more heli riding...
The rest of the year - I dunno probably move towards academia, a research position, policy advisor etc
Shopping list?
If I had enough money to buy the world I would...
Travel?
Ive got a book "Ski Resorts of the World" Im working my way through it...
What then?
Ski bums dont work - always people to hang out with... when its not winter somewhere there is always glaciers =)
Snowboarding is a soul sport to me - my only problem is what to do when my body cant keep up... until then I can ride

* Sleep in every day till whatever time suits you – what time would you get up?
With two young kids, THEY dictate this, not I! But being a night-owl, the question should probably be "What time would you go to bed?" Answer: As late as I wanted to!
* Spend as much or as little time doing whatever you like – what would you do?
Work on my "101 things to do before I die" list (as per Ted Leonsis). Included would be such things as: study towards a pilots licence; see at least one NFL game, ditto NBA game, ditto NHL game; travel to every continent on this great planet (including Antarctica); take up golf (and play at all the great courses around the world); spend more quality time with the kids; etc; etc
* Buy all the “doodads” (material objects) that money can buy without concern – what would you buy?
A range of cars (a la Rene Rivkin - for investment purposes of course), a cruiser (boat), a Harley Fatboy (bike), a plane (to fly with my pilot's licence), all the usual electronic gadgets (better still invest in an electronics business so it's all tax-deductable, hehe), nice Italian Villa by the coast (probably northern NSW) as well as residences in other countries (holiday houses), etc, etc
* Travel the world as often as your heart desires – where would you go and for how long?
Pick a new language to learn and then travel at least once a year to a different continent to put it into practice (just what is the native tongue of Antarcticans??) and try to take the kids as often as possible (perhaps with a travelling tutor).
And lastly, once all of this is done; you have bought all the material things, travelled the world over, slept in day after day, and sat around bored silly – WHAT THEN???
As I'm doing all the above, live with the credo of 'making the World a better place'. If you live life to the fullest, there shouldn't ever come a day that you've done it all and are bored silly.
Oops nearly forgot.....there is ONE condition: that you are older than 18 but younger than 60 hence, spending time with friends can be difficult because unlike you, THEY still have to work. :([/QUOTE]
If you choose your associates wisely, then you can do all the above in their company too - share the experiences!

Having been there and done that for a bit...
* Sleep in every day till whatever time suits you – what time would you get up?
When the kids need to get ready for school. Or 9am - whichever comes first. I stay up past midnight most nights already.
* Spend as much or as little time doing whatever you like – what would you do?
Travel, mentor people in investing, build companies, play PC games (and make some too).
* Buy all the “doodads” (material objects) that money can buy without concern – what would you buy?
Not much - I don't particularly go for doodads.... Don't want the car, yacht, cinema TV or big house (got one large enough). Maybe a faster PC.....but only if I can justify it as a business expense! :)
* Travel the world as often as your heart desires – where would you go and for how long?
Everywhere.....for years. A nomadic existence :)
And lastly, once all of this is done; you have bought all the material things, travelled the world over, slept in day after day, and sat around bored silly – WHAT THEN???
Start more companies, mentor more people, travel to new worlds (I have tickets reserved already)!
Cheers,
Aceyducey
Wake Up time - mmm based on recent studies that those that sleep 8hrs die earlier than those that sleep 7 hours. As long as I get 7 I am great- however it is all based on when I go to sleep - ,8am would be a luxury
What would I Do - I love helping people be it investing or whatever. Having volunteered in Nursing Homes and with youth I really enjoyed both, I would love to be that lady that people whisper when you pass 'you know she has a multimillion dollar empire she doesnot need to be here but she is' OK enough of the self satisfying stuff. I would establish a financial management module for school kids, get fit fit fit, travel (less because I have to more because I want to), have kids - gather family and friends all exp paid to a location every year. Oh yeah buy a property to actual live in.
Doodads - not really into this, maybe a fm radio that can play in lifts that really upsets me, a comfortable pair of shoes, a cook who makes sure we eat wonderfully but without an extra kg being added.
Travel - All I really want to do is sit in Barcelona and ponder Gaudi's unfinished cathedral, then spend 3 mths a year in a sandstone house next to a babbling brook in Tassy, 6 mths in Port Douglas in a beachfronted home, 1 mth skiing in NZ and 2 months attending courses at old league international universities studying psych, history, photography, success, motivation, nlp, what makes companies / civilisations great, art, drama, opera appreciation ( need to work hard on this one)
Then when bored - I will pretend I am one of those ' i had it all and then lost it' and start again on the adventure, this time with others being the beneficiaries, my kids or mentorees :p

* Sleep in every day till whatever time suits you – what time would you get up?
Hit the pillow by midnight, up at 7.30... Seven and a half hours is plenty of sleep, i'll catch up on the rest when i'm dead... :)
* Spend as much or as little time doing whatever you like – what would you do?
7.30 to 9am - Take the dog for a walk then have a leisurely shower followed by a nice healthy hearty breakfast...
9.30 - 11am - Hit the gym. I'm probably 10kgs more than i'd like to be so some cardio work and weights to tone up again. I'd like to go at least 3 times a week... maybe play golf the other 2 days ??
11am - 3pm - Work of some sort. I'd probably have a business or two and i'd like to call in to see how things are doing every day or two. Squeeze in a nice lunch with friends or girlfriend once or twice a week too...
4pm to 5pm - Swim everyday. Best exercise, and soooo relaxing. I'd love to do it more but struggle to hit the pool once a week at the moment !!
Evening - Watch the news and current affairs programs etc. Dinner and relaxing for a few hours. Turn the computer on around 10-ish and surf the Net for a couple of hours before a quick shower and bed... Damn, sounds like a good life, wish i could do it sooner !! :D
* Buy all the “doodads” (material objects) that money can buy without concern – what would you buy?
* PPOR - Nice but nothing crazy - Just a nice house about 40sq in a decent suburb (not far from where i grew up) with City views of Sydney from the back verandah. It would have to have a huge garage though - 6 car size would do !! Inground pool and spa would be a given...
* Holiday house - a nice unit at Broadbeach or Noosa. Either would do - for those weekends when you just "have" to get away from Sydney...
* Cars - a new HSV and a 4WD. No Mercs or BMW's as yet, i'm too young !! A nice BMW M3 in a few years would be good though... :D
* Race car - i race now, i'd keep at it but improve my car even further.
* Boat(s) - replace my current boat with a nice permanently 38' cruiser for fishing with mates, and a nice new ski boat for weekends away.
* Travel the world as often as your heart desires – where would you go and for how long?
Maybe have a quick trip through Europe and see where my father was born (Malta) - But really, i love Australia and would do most of my travelling here...
And lastly, once all of this is done; you have bought all the material things, travelled the world over, slept in day after day, and sat around bored silly – WHAT THEN???
I'd never get bored. Stay active, enjoy the outdoors, play golf, go fishing and camping, stay in nice hotels all over Australia - how could you ever get bored ?? I'd also spend as much time as possible with family and friends. Keeping an eye on business interests etc would also keep the mind active.
Just writing this response has helped me sharpen my focus, thanks Jo !! :p
Cheers,
Paul...

Sleep in every day till whatever time suits you – what time would you get up?
For the first 4-5 months I’d probably sleep in till about 9, after that I’d start to question how lazy I’d become.
Spend as much or as little time doing whatever you like – what would you do?
I would spend as much time trying to improve what I already have. I wouldn’t stop learning and working on my own portfolio.
Buy all the “doodads” (material objects) that money can buy without concern – what would you buy?
A beautiful 959 GT2 Porsche and a wonderful penthouse on both the Gold Coast (Broadbeach, Miami) and Sunshine Coast (Marcoola, Coolum, Noosa).
Travel the world as often as your heart desires – where would you go and for how long?
Travel to America, England and Scotland in one trip, taking in 2 months.
Oh yeh, I forgot to mention what I’d really cherish and enjoy – the ability to spend as much time with my wife and kids, even though I don’t have either (yet).
Hmmmm, back to reality….time to install some downlights…. :(
Ps…thanks for letting me dream Monopoly.

one of the things i'd like to do is travel, but with a twist.
a mate of mine is still in the navy and is currently serving on a warship.
(i resigned 2 years ago)
he has told me over and over that i cant do it. theres no way i'm ever going to be rich etc.
That's even more determination to do it.
So, what happens if you dont need to pretend having to think to do all those questions that you asked
you do what you want to do,whenever it suits you?
Go where you want to go at anytime?
eat what you want to eat, anytime, anywhere?
With all the cash that you have, and properties that you owned..what then?
:) Z
