I can tell you for a fact that medicine is business first...
As one example, as a physio, I see lots of therapeutic (not diagnostic) knee arthoscopies done that have absolutely no proof of benefit. The orthopods love these things, because they are quick and low risk, and bill high. There is a big push in health care to develop evidence based pratice. The medicos are always quick to knock alternative therapies, but they forget that many if not most medical procedures have little or no evidence via well controlled studies.
Publically funded specialists never fail to do ward rounds on public holidays either, as they can bill double and triple time.

I don't have a problem with the agent talking the vendor into selling at a reasonable price .... when I'm buying.
