Where is West End in Geraldton

Hi All
Does anyone know much about the area in Geralton known as West End?
Any info would be apreciated?
I have noticed on realestate.com.au that there is a few blocks of units for sale in the Geraldton area if any formites are interested.I have not looked into them so l don,t know if they are good or bad buys.

West End is around Point Moore.

Most (if not all) properties there are leasehold, not freehold, so caveat emptor!

Exacly how does this lease hold land thing work?
Does the home owner pay rent on the land?
Is it a bit like strata title?
Just cant get my head around it at the moment.

I believe owners pay a lease to the council for the land.

Leases expire at different times within the next 5-10 years, depending on the property.

I've never investigated further due to the perceived risk. But you could have made a killing as I recall leasehold houses being advertised for $40k approx in 2003, and now they're $100k or more.

Great fishing off the very rough reefy point there. Also known as Hells Gates. Ive fished it many a time - great for Samson fish.

Getting finance for property under leashold can be quite tricky!
