Hello all
My good wife will not stop telling me about Bargara Beach QLD. We live in Sydney and I know nothing about this place. Can someone (lots of people) in the forum tell us why we should or should not buy an investment property there.
Any locals who can tell us what this place has going for it would be very appreciated.
Thank you

If it is where I am thinking of, nice sleepy place. Not the end of the world but you can see it from there.
From what I understand the difference between Bargara and other places is that Bargara is sewered and you dont have to rely on septic tanks (which for a beachside town in the middle of nowhere isnt too bad). Check on the sewered bit though but I think I'm right.
Not my cup of tea due to the remoteness but I suppose its all what you are after

Bargara is ten minutes from Bundy or just over four hours from Brisbane.
Great place to invest or live imo, the seaside and ocean outlooks there are awesome.
Mirvac is not building massive shopping centres in Bundy for nothing.
I expect population to explode up that area in the next ten years.
It has one of the northern most swimmable surf beaches without stingers etc.
Agnes water and 1770 are roughly an hour north of Bargara.
Hervey Bay roughly an hour south.

Yeah I know about Bargara
Was offered a 3 bedroom new brick home only one block from the beach for $56k in 1987. And said no - was a bit expensive......
Lukentel, I don't think the end of the world is visible from bargara anymore.
It is booming with plenty of investment $$$ going in.
I am uncertain about where the jobs are though as Bundaberg is not going v far over the last 10 years. It is a sugar/small crops/ blue collar town.
Maybe future industry and jobs are not necessary if it continues to develop as a tourist spot.

I have been familiar with Bargara Beach QLD for over 30 years (ouch). My visits(from Brisbane) have been less frequent in recent years. One thing I noticed the other day
is the amout of development that is taking place. Sections of beach that were prev.
isolated (Bagara to Elliot heads) are virtually one continuous strip. Real Estate prices
have climbed over the years as well. My favourite beach is Woodgate (near Childers), do not tell everyone, too late. Bagaras immediate beaches are broken up by rock walls
which never really appealled to me, but still a nice spot. Let me know if u.w.m details!

Hi Gregjen and other respondents
If you have more details we would appreciate it.
Like Lukentel I also thought that was where the end of the world started, but my wife insists I am wrong and we should take a close look at it.
I can see all the development going on, but I also wonder what is driving the local economy, surely there has to be more than sugar there? or is that enough?
Who can tell me?

There's a little hill just east of Collinsville. If you stand on a milk crate you CAN see it from there!!!!
ps My first job in the late '50s was in Bundy and I can assure it was a great little town. Bagara may have had sewerage then too. LOL

Talk about getting 'poo' hung on a guy about sewage....:D Tough post.
I mentioned the sewage as the guy I know who bought there was really big on it as most of the other places in the area are on septic (apparently), his belief being that it showed the town could support expansion easily as the systems (would infrastructure be the right word) were already in place. From the quick responses looks like this might be the case.
For now I wont get into the benefits of good sewerage systems vs. septic tanks as I dont think I'll talk any more 'poo'.

5M I am an agent at Bargara. Formerly a teacher, we came to the area in '99 and invested here. :) I left teaching after 15 years to work in the REoffice which helped me so much.
I don't want to be accused of "ramping" or using the forum to sell but I'd like to think I know as much as anyone about what is happening in Bargara and the Coral Coast (and the industry etc in Bundy) so PM if you want to.

Hi...
Is this a good deal in Bargara?
-----------------
LAND - 6 x 1/4 acre blocks next to ocean and golf club. Bank valuation at $185,000. Owner will sell on clean contracts for $158,000 each.

Hi Ross,
I'd need to know which golf course. Presume that the ocean is the same. :p
Like anywhere there are some secondary, developing and cheaper areas. Price would be good if it was central Bargara. I wonder how adjacent "next to" is though. (I well remember the discussion on what "absolute" meant to different forum members with respect to the location of land and its proximity to the ocean.)
By way of example: There is an estate that would be 200m from parts of the Bargara golf course and perhaps 1k from the ocean offering 800m-ish blocks in the high 150's.
Hope this helps
Cheers
Tony

Thanks for the Harley comment Richard. I thought you might assume I was heavy for my height. :D
