Xmas gifts using a Trust

Hi All

I have been reading with interest on the ability, amongst other things, to purchase gifts for beneficiaries of a trust.

With Christmas approaching, do people utilise this option and if so, how much can you spend, and how is it recorded and funded?

I am interested in this too, it is a trick mentioned by Dale GG in trustmagic (http://www.trustmagic.com.au/) and wonder if the ATO would have any sort of limit on it.

Say if someone gifted the trust $10,000 what would be considered a reasonable amount for gifts in one year? $50? $500? $5000? Are there any PBR's which confirm or deny this benefit?
