A cyclist and a pedestrian simultaneously leave their bases C and P respectively and move towards the other person's base with a permanent speed. Half an hour later a fly takes off from the pedestrian's shoulder heading towards the cyclist. As soon as it reaches the cyclist, it turns back and flies towards the pedestrian, and so on. The fly is doing 23 km/hr, the cyclist's speed is 14 km/hr, and the pedestrian is travelling with the speed of 6 km/hr. The distance between C and P is 150 km. How many kilometres will the fly travel until the pedestrian and the cyclist meet?
Say cheese :p

Hey Lotana,
You save me from my boredom!
Okay, so the cyclist and pedestrian are approaching each other at 20 km / hour. (14km/hr + 6 km/hr)
So they should meet in 7-1/2 hours.
The fly starts after 1/2 hours, so it will fly for 7 hours.
7 hrs X 23 km / hour = 161 km
I hope,
Steve;)

Steve,
Unfortunately I don't have any cheesecake left, but you again got it right (of course). Next time I'll bake a special one for you with a hard crust. Good night.
Say cheese :p

I gotta wonder if there is a way of marketing THAT FLY !!!!!
It must take a helluva lot of training to get a fly to do that - or does it have something to do with the soaps used (or not ???) by the pedestrian and the cyclist........
Most flies I've ever heard of, are on a wall somewhere ...:)
