Hi everyone,

With the help of my Dad, I'm going to convert a large double garage into a one bedroom flat.
Are there any companies that will prefabricate the internal walls, in either timber or steel?
Which material would be cheaper?

Where can I find bargain priced insulation batts in Sydney? Are batts the cheapest way to insulate?

Thanks for your help,
Regards,
Crystal

Any company that manufacturers pre-fab house frames should be able to do it. I think there is a category in the Yellow Pages for this.

Question: if the garage is already standing, what are the internal frames for? A new (nicer) wall lining or something?

As for insulation, can you get away with silver builder's foil? That might be cheaper than fibre batts. Bunnings or other high volume places probably do fibre batts quite cheaply. They're almost a commodity product - just shop around on price.

Hi Kevmeister,
Thanks for your reply.
The internal walls are to separate the bathroom from the bedroom etc and will be gyprocked.
I'll be on the lookout for specials at the local hardware stores!
Cheers,
Crystal
