View Full Version : House relocation on same site

Does anyone have any info on moving a house to a different position on the same block?

Have read thread on moving houses to new sites, but that doesn't seem to cover this situation. Reason I'm interested is that there is a potential development site with a renovated 1930s w/b in an inconvenient position. Seems too good to demolish, but relocation would allow two more houses on the site.

What are some of the considerations - council, footings, relocation expenses etc? Any thoughts appreciated.

Neil,

My understanding is that you have to go though all the same issues, whether you are moving 2 metres, or 200 kilometres.

A quick call to council will give you local conditions.

Hmmm...
Great idea.
Would there be any specific issues though if the current position and the new position overlaped. Would that affect placement of footings?

Intrigued...

get a quote from the relocator - lifting and putting down is the major cost and as someone said before, the distance it goes is not going to cost much more or less.

the extra costs i found with the distance was with the electricity board and the power lines.

you relocator will know all this.
