Hello,

Can anyone offer a personal review of the following renovation titles?

‘Renovation; a complete guide’ by Michael W Litchfield

‘Find it, Buy it, Fix it’’ by Robert Irwin

‘The Australian Renovator’s Manual’ by Allan Staines

or suggest a better reference?

many thanks

I own pretty much every one of the Allan Staines books *except* the Renovators manual. His other books aren't bad, but don't expect a huge amount of "hand-holding", if his other books are any indication. I don't think they would be tailored to someone who's never seen a hammer or a nail.

Kevin.

Dear Max,

Would suggest that you have a look at a previous post of mine to see some excerpt pages.

Have read ‘Find it, Buy it, Fix it’ by Robert Irwin and have found it to be a good start in the renovations area. It comes up with good ideas such as putting together a support team for your renovations, checklists for evaluating costs of fixing the property, the different type of reno properties and the benefits of thinking of innovative fixing solutions.

However it is written in the US and will not give you all the information that you need to become a professional Australian renovator.

Would suggest that you try to physically have a look at some of the Australian books in my post and make a decision on what best suits your needs. However gain the benefits from the free excerpts from the US books.

Cheers,

Sunstone.
