If anyone has problems signing in - or signing out of the forum, you may have corrupt cookie problems (which are not as bad as corrupt donut problems !)

Try this...

Do this in IE:

Tools -> Internet Options -> General -> Settings -> View Files

You should see the "temporary internet files" window.

Now click on "Internet Address" column header to sort the list by address, then scroll down until you find the ones that say:

Cookie:yourname@www.somersoft.com/

Delete any cookie file like that which has somersoft.com in the address - this will force IE to forget who it thinks you are - and then you can try signing in again as if on a fresh computer.

Update: with later versions of IE, your cookies are actually stored elsewhere.

There is now a directory somewhere like C:\Documents and Settings\<your username>\Cookies

You should search this directory (right mouse click on the Cookies directory name in Windows Explorer and click "search" from the menu). This will start the windows file search program and set you up ready to search your cookies folder.

In the search text boxes you should leave the first box (file name) blank and in the second box "word or phrase", you should type somersoft - see the picture below for an example.

When you click the search button, you will get a list of all cookies that have somersoft in them. You should select all of these files and delete them.

Finally close all browser windows (important !!) before trying again.

Make sure you are using http://www.somersoft.com/forums to access the forum - NOT the IP address... if you have bookmarks that point to the IP address, delete them or update them to use the somersoft.com name instead.

This will also hopefully solve the "unregistered" message some people are getting with the chatroom too.

If you still have problems, please email me at webmaster@somersoft.com

By the way, doing this will make the forum forget who you are, so you will need to log in again. Don't forget that the login boxes are down the bottom of the main forum page.
