"You've got a new pm" pop-up

I had a new private message this morning, read it, closed the window, and started browsing the forum. But every time I visit the root of the tree the annoying message pops-up telling me that I've got a new PM when thereisn't one.

Is it a known issue?

It's not an issue I've seen before - but there has been the occasional problem with the forum server change - mostly due to corrupted cookies.

First thing I would suggest is that you try my instructions in this thread:

... which explain how to delete the cookies - you will need to sign in again afterwards.

Give it a go and let me know if you still have problems.

I am having the opposite problem, My machine is not telling me when there is a PM.

I have deleted cookies as per instruction, due to them playing up after the server change, but now the PM's don't announce themselves.

I am confused.

I use at least 3 different computers on a regular basis. Is there an easy way, may be disable notification, os something like that?

Lotana,

You may have to refresh your front screen. When you have a PM, go into the forum, and press the "back" button, the browser may just be getting the page from the cache- and that triggers the notify.

On IE, F5 will refresh.

I do also have the opposite problem from time to time- but I do have the option to email notifications.

Lontana - you can disable the notification in your control panel ("user cp" button at the top of the page).
