View Full Version : SYDNEY: Lunch at Phillip's Foote restaurant, The Rocks
After much procrastinating, I have booked us some tables at Phillip's Foote restaurant in The Rocks for lunch on Sunday 13th April - out in the beer garden from about 12pm (midday) onwards.
Come along, buy lunch (nice steaks !!), socialise, network and share investing and property stories with other Somersoft members.
Phillip's Foote Restaurant
101 George St.
The Rocks
Phone 9241 1485
For those who remember, Les organised a get together around 2 years ago at this restaurant, which was the first time I met any of the people from the forum !
Please indicate whether you might be coming by replying to this post, PMing me or emailing me - just so I can get an indication of numbers for the resturant !
I will make sure that people at the restaurant on the day know this is a Somersoft gathering so they can show you where to find us - or failing that, just look for the rowdy bunch of people having a good time !

Ill be heading up the coast on the 10th so ill miss out
I think Id have to create a new nick for the meeting though, apparently XBenX is rather hard to say :P
plus I wouldnt want anyone know my real identity :P I wouldnt be able to flame spammers with such disregard to defamation laws (apparently I have 2 wanting to sue me atm - hi guys - im sure you are serious, seriously deluded)

G'day Sim,
Count me in (that's NOT Easter week, is it? I'm back home then....)
But, I should correct the following -
For those who remember, Les organised a get together around 2 years ago at this restaurant, which was the first time I met any of the people from the forum !
It was GeeCee (aka GeeCeeCee, I think) who organised the very first Philip Foote's do! (I'm not a Sydney-sider, so didn't have a CLUE about the place) But, yeah, it was the place where a lot of us met for the very first time. And I'll be there with bells on (better check my diary.... yep, it's cool - Easter is NEXT weekend...)
Count me in, Sim' - I hope Robert will be there (to cook my steak JUST RIGHT again.... Hey, Rob, you out there????)
Regards,
PS I think I'll call GeeCee - haven't seen him in the forum recently - just to make sure he's aware.... Thinks (Jeez, maybe HE'S XBenX !!!!!! ;) )
Oops... you're right - it was GeeCee ... many apologies !
If you can track him down and drag him along that would be great.
... and yes, it is the weekend BEFORE Easter.
Go Sim!
I'll be there with bells on!
Not literally with bells on, as I can see a few thinking that I would be...

Id like to go and put some faces to names, its a great pub but im going to a birthday party which starts at the Golden Slipper races on Saturday lunch time so i probably not going to be real keen to walk into a pub on Sunday.
Brains - it's a restaurant (that serves alcohol). Just keep telling yourself that.

I'll try.:) I havnt been there for years but i thought it was a pub that served food (great steaks). They have a beer garden down the back?
Yup, that's where we'll be - out near the BBQs, enjoying our steaks.

Well bring him along, then he will know us, and then he will be social around us :D
G'day Sim'
Add one more - got hold of GeeCee today - has had computer probs, and sounds real busy with his IP's - but he's noted the day (and he knows the place ;) ) and we should see him there, all things being equal. You never know, might have a couple of twin terrors in tow (3 and a half now, can U believe it??)
Can we pencil in one (or three, or four) more??
And Joanna K - I'm a lot like hubby too (the social thing can be scarey.... ) - but I'll be there. Sometimes we need to step outside our comfort zones occasionally (and this is one of those occasions). He'll be in good company..... We'd love to meet the other half of the team.....

I would love to go.
Gee Cee coming would have been a bonus- haven't seen him for a long time.
(Then was at "The Wife's big bbq a few years back- we had all thought the Gee Cee was of the female persuasion).
But I'm finishing up a reno (well, mini reno) next week- and I have another lined up fo the next two weekends (I haven't even checked what's needed yet- I have to wait until next week.
So as a substitute for coming, perhaps another epic like the "Removing cork tiles" one will be unfolding :D

Hi Sim,
I would love to come along to lunch. I have checked with "she who must be obeyed" and she has given me the green light.
If there is room available count me in, and of course "she who must be obeyed" will come as well.
Regards,
Johno

Sounds like it should be fun, fun, fun. Unfortunately I won't be there. I have too work.
As some one said, nice to match faces with names.
Sim can leave his scissors at home.

Because of me, or because of the growing number of attendees in general?

Hi Sim et al
Unfortunately, we have something else on that day.
Phillip's Foote was part of my old stomping ground and I've had some pretty good times there.
Hope to make it to the next get together in Sydney.
Have fun!

don't forget guys!
hope to see you all there.
Yes, if you haven't already done so, please let me know (reply to this, PM or email me) if you are going to come so I can let the restaurant know approximate numbers. Thanks.
Thanks everyone who turned up - I had a great day !!
We'll do it again soon.

Thanks Sim for organising that. It was worth the drive up from Canberra (though a pity I could not indulge in a beer or three).
It was great to put some faces to names, and to find out what people are doing. What some are doing is far more exciting than what they say in the forum, so Iit was great to hear what's going on with everybody- and to get some inspirations for the future.

Hi Sim
How often do you do these lunch sessions as i would love to come along and meet everyone.
G'day Jasin,
Usually (read, in the past) it has been a yearly thing - but Sim did say "we'll do it again soon....."
Keep pushing, and you never know just how soon that might be ;)

Hi Les,
Thanks for that. Would love to speak to all as the seminar front seems to be a dead end it seems chatting to guys with the experience works more effectively.

Yes, thanks Sim (with a loonnnggg i)- job well done!
To all those who missed a great afternoon, we will definitely do it again- and the pecan pie and lemon meringue will be on the menu again for sure!
Great to catch up with new and old faces- it really is bizarre meeting nicknames in the flesh!
Especially when I expected Jacque to be a distinguished older Frenchman:)
G'day Jacque,
thanks Sim (with a loonnnggg i)
Do you mean Sime ????? :p

I remember pix of t-shirts being signed after the Somersoft memorial (?) pub crawl, there was something about "for the last time, Sim' rhymes with ..(?)" or something like that...
unfortunately pictures did not get migrated into the new forum- http://www.somersoft.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=3110
