Converting a Word document to a jpeg??

Hi,

Kind of related question, is there a way to convert a Jpeg to a gif file easily.

I can do it by sending an email and it asks to reduce size of file, it then turns my photo jpeg into a Gif and attaches it to the email, but if I want to post to a forum a jpeg is too big. If I can convert to a Gif it is better.

Any suggestions or instructions appreciated, please write any instruction in "dummy speak"

thanks
---End Quote---
Open the jpeg in microsoft Office Picture Manager. Save as .gif file.

Yes, they are cheap and were originally on the market over 10 years ago when first built for around $60K, so the CG has not been that great. The area can be a bit seedy, and I noticed the police have increased their presence there, due to the higher crime rate. There are also many housing commision places in and around that area.

---Quote (Originally by Olly)---
So, for those of us who are picky about poor spelling and grammar - why does it bother us?

Do we have a touch of 'class' or snobbishness in our makeup?
I don't think so. I think it's a matter of speaking and writing clearly with articulation. If we adhere to the rules of spelling and grammar, our communication is clearer, and less likely to be misinterpreted.

Do we see someone who can't spell or use grammar correctly as less educated? Or lazy?
I see it as having less education, or missed education.

Are we purists who don't like to see the English language being misused and changed over time because of poor habits and acceptance of such?
I think there's some truth in this. However, I do get disgruntled by the fact that proper spelling and grammar are not taught in schools these days. This means I get graduates who cannot write a decent report for the courts, and that reflects badly on my reputation. (Reports go out under my letterhead.) So it means much extra work for me in editing and educating them in basic grammar.

Are we competitive and like the challenge of mastering something that we know is hard and think everyone else should have the same attitude?
It's not rocket science...just using the basic rules makes communication easier to understand.

My answer: I dunno - it just does! :p
---End Quote---

My peeves are:
* saying "aks" instead of "ask"...this is just poor education.
* using split infinitives.
* misusing "advice" and "advise"...there is a difference between the noun and the verb.
* using "was going to" instead of "went".
* starting a sentence with "but" or "and"....these are joining words.
* using Mum and Dad, when you mean mum and dad.
* Writing a sentence with no punctuation, which causes me to run out of breath before I get to the end.
* A paragraph that takes up a whole page...Kafka is exempt from this peeve.
* One sentence paragraphs...so unnecessary.

So it means much extra work for me in editing and educating them in basic grammar.
Are we competitive and like the challenge of mastering something that we know is hard and think everyone else should have the same attitude?

using "was going to" instead of "went".

starting a sentence with "but" or "and"....these are joining words.

using Mum and Dad, when you mean mum and dad.

Just wondering what people think about the prospects for Cairns in 2010. It has been a bit of a dismal year in 2009 in FNQ for IP's. Many businesses have closed and the renters have moved elsewhere for work. Not a good year for getting tenants.

So those that had to --sold. Those that hung on did not see much in the way of capital growth. In some cases it was negative.

On the bright side...with such a dismal 2009, maybe 2010 will be better?

Yes, Bosun is a Miniature Schnauzer...registered Stud Dog...so is available for mating with other pedigree Minature Schnauzers. Then came the curtains...those filmy ones that wafted in the breeze. And the old lace ones...yes they collected dust too.

Then a few years ago the venetians came back with a wooden vengence.
So where are we now?

Well, I just put the ones with the ring tops in my rentals. The tenants wreck them within a couple of years, and they are less expensive to replace, easy for me to install, and they look neat and tidy.

Did that ... and they said they would email it as well as snail mail. I suggested they cut out the snail mail except for the annual one. Nah! They are being over-inclusive again.

Hi everyone,

Well I've had a few msgs over the past 12 months...mainly about my conspicuous absence from Somersoft. :o I think I owe a bit of an explanation.

I started writing a book with a colleague which took up an enormous amount of time. And then my pooch of 16 years died, on Christmas Eve last year. Then my relationship fell to bits, and I did a psychological runner from just about everyone. Licked my wounds and bouncing back now.

Got a new dog after a hefty grieving period. The new pooch is ABK9 Bosun...following on from his predecessor ABK9 Sailor. (Thought about changing my name on Somersoft...but then no-one would recognise me, eh!) ;)

Anyway, the book is now finished and has been picked up by a literary agent who is having chats with the publishers. :)

Property-wise, it's been a tough year...hanging in there trying to rent a lovely unit...no bites. So consequently working like a dog to keep up with the mortgages. (Hey...what am I telling you for...you know the drill, eh.)

Still, I've got my positive attitude, and every morning I think about the things I'm grateful for....there are so many.

Lovely to be back....I did miss you.

I haven't seen any evidence yet of any head of state who hasn't failed to deliver on something...no matter how small. So that's my rationale for "when" and not "if".

Regarding your comments on "power corrupting". Of course it does but it doesn't only apply to a black president. It applies to every person in power, regardless of race, color, religion, gender etc.

Agreed, and I said that.

Sorry, I don't get the undertone of your post Sailor.

I don't have an "undertone". My point is that the black race card will be blamed/used for broken promises. People will use it to their advantage. I think being black is not only his strength, but will also be his achilles heel. People when attacking him, will use his weakness to their advantage. This is likely to cause racial tension in the USA, in a manner we have never before seen in history.

I'm NOT excited about this USA election.

I think the point has been proved that a black American can too be President of the biggest nation in the free world. And that's really about fair play and equal opportunity....good stuff!

However, what will happen when his policies/decisions/promises don't manifest (for whatever reason)?

Will black people say "you sold us out", "we voted for you and you let us down"?

Will white people say "well...I told you so. We gave him a chance and he blew it? We won't be going for a black president next time."

And for all his promises to clean up the economy, bring the soldiers back home, etc, etc, remember that: *Power corrupts, and absolute power corrupts absolutely*. How will all that power corrupt him?

I've never seen anyone in a really powerful position that didn't get corrupted in some way.

When the honeymoon is over, I predict the blame for anything that doesn't happen, will result in racial conflict.

Hi Bluecard,
tis fairly simple for me.

I'm not a religious person...I'd probably describe myself as spiritual.

I don't believe in a God, but I do believe in the Universe, and the beauty it provides.

I have faith in goodness, and trust.
When I lose my faith, or forget about it, I feel despondent and sad.

When I remember my faith, I feel hopeful and happy.

Hi Dreamon...I waited half a lifetime to buy my dream home by the sea....and that was the 13th property. It just doesn't happen in a couple of years for some of us. Takes a lot of patience, research, will power for saving, and bloody knuckles doing the renovations yourself to add value to the IP's as you go along the way.

That doesn't mean you should give up. Tis worth all the effort, and as it doesn't break you, it just makes you stronger.

You can have your dream house, and I think you are starting off in the right direction. Others have achieved their dreams faster, and that depends on many other factors. Keep reading this forum and you will learn more about how it happens.

They had the FHOG back in about '79 to '80, if I remember correctly - we bought our first PPOR in 1978 and missed out on FHOG (it didn't exist then) and friends bought about 12-18 months later and got FHOG ..... sorry I can't remember the exact dates.

I bought my first PPOR in 1981. NAB knocked me back because I was a single income female, newly divorced. Credit Union gave me a high interest loan, and there was no FHOG.

BTW...does anyone else remember when they bought their very first property, and there was no FHOG than?
