The guy was asking for help, yet all you wanted to do was help yourself.

Re: a Perth Accountant. Llew Eynon has been mentioned on this forum numerous times by, among others, Rixter and Redwing. According to the whitepages online, his details are:
(Apparently he has a large IP portfolio of his own, which is always good).
You should also have a look at the ATO leaftlet Australian Residents with Overseas Real Estate. It will help increase your understanding of your responsibilities and be useful in helping you ask the right sorts of questions of the accountant you choose to appoint.
As Pitt St said try Llew, you may also want to try RMG accounting in Homebase Wembley (Patrick or Phillip)if Llew cannot assist.
The best advice is to find someone on your 'wavelength'.
I would also open up dialogue with Chris RAYNAL from Master Accountants in NZ whom I've found very helpful in the past (though I decided not to go the NZ route some time back and purchased another IP in WA).
nigel - I tend to agree your post wasn't very helpful apart from outlining you have bought houses there (and that was after looking at your site). Are you an accountant with an intricate knowledge of the tax systems (here and there) for people intending to buying overseas? If you are not a qualified individual or don't know of a qualified individual then you need not offer anything. I am not looking to affiliate myself with any business ventures at this point. in regards to you post I think your post it tantamount self promotion of your company... is it not?
with regards to self promotion. You are not the only one who does it - refer to just about any depreciation query and you'll see a couple of other firms who self promote, although they do this indirectly as you have done it's still self promotion and you become cautious about the value of the information provided. The forum is supposed to be about individuals provide answer or point of view on certain topics I guess without person gain apart from the gratitude someone give to you when you help them out. anyway I think you get my point...
Pitt st - thanks someone mentioned leu or llew to me years ago for an accountant in Perth. I didn't look him up unfortunately.
Thanks for the ATO leaflet link. I will have a look today.
redwing - Thanks for your options aswell.
About 6 weeks ago I emailed a bunch of real estate in NZ to ask them if they can provide an advisory role to me on property over there. I got the people who jsut said they can help and sent me a property brochure. I also got emails back from people who understood what I was asking and they provided some contacts (lawyers and accountants on the NZ side) that I can email and talk to.
In effect I would like a buyers advocate or someone who can provide that cost with out the charges.
Since then I have been slack -
I got back about 8 or so response - 2 or 3 were just pitching the property they had and the rest had a increasing degree of understanding of what I was trying to acheive.
anyway I have to revisti the emials and send off soem questions as I am off over there on 29th July for a ski/ tour holiday. Although I doubt I will be able to buy into anything this year I can go and have a look at some things..and maybe talk with some people.
