    Millionaire's Club

My thoughts also. If you're on a small to average income, then what LA's saying makes sense, it's just never been my focus. I focus my attention more on growing my assets/income as opposed to saving the income I'm spending. If I grow my income by 2%, it makes much more of a difference than...

    Millionaire's Club

It always amazes me when I drive past the Caltex on my way home from work (I forget which night it is). Cars are queueing up 7 deep behind each bowser, even spilling onto the main road. 500m further there's the BP where you can pull straight in and fill up. I value that 20mins I'd be in line...

There are some exceptions - I love reading about the Level 9 guys. Great inspiration, even if you can't necessarily use some of the ideas practically yet. Although I've got no idea what level I'd be on now! :p

I agree there's no need for wreckless spending, but yes I draw the line at penny pinching with electricity etc. I agree with you about cars and late's etc. For most people, the savings you've talked about are wise - but I was talking about millionaires having that way of life. Although I guess...

BB, I agree with you entirely. But the way that quote came across (or the way I read it anyway) was it's focus on the cost saving side of it. I'm all for the family games night without TV, but I'll sure as hell be leaving the heater/aircon and lights on. Maybe that wasn't the major...

    Millionaire's Club

hehe not a bad idea. Although I'd never do it in practice. As much as I've whinged above, the people who ask for discount are in the vast minority. It's the reason I've never introduced loyalty schemes etc - there's no point, I'd be cutting my own throat.

Fair enough. My business is more everyday use items that you shop for every couple weeks - so Woolworths is the better comparison.

    Millionaire's Club

PS Plus in my particular case, a lot of my customers are quite affluent (or in a position to put lots of luxuries on credit at any rate). Pull up out front of my shop in a brand new BMW, but proceed to pick one of the cheapest products off my shelf, and then have the gall to ask for it...

Like Stu said. I'm not talking about service fees, or contract jobs etc. I'm talking about the items at your local retail store that have a price sticker on them. Do you go into Woolworths and ask the checkout operator for discount as the items are scanned through? No, the price is what...

    Millionaire's Club

Sorry, I may be youthful and wasteful as a result - but I just think that's pathetic. Seriously, how much could leaving the lights on during games night possibly cost - $2 maybe? As for asking for discount, I never do and it really bugs me when people ask for no reason. I tell them flat out...
