Yeah, as an investmenmt it is ok. It has a chance to climb, but the suburb and most properties are just so poor. As a PPOR, Altona Meadows definetley.

Have a look at Altona Meadows. Same postcode as Laverton but much, much nicer. We nearly bought in Alverton, albeit the nicest street and nice house. Decided to go a better suburb and still very good location. Best choice we made.

Heating up a little bit over the last year. My PPOR has gone up 11%.

Townsville only has a domestic airport and military base and runway. They do have the bigger James Cook University, but Cairns has the international airport and an expanding university campus.

What about Altona Meadows. Some newer houses around (I just got a 7yo 4/2/2). There are also some blocks still around the place. Love the suburb.

Can't agree more with the broker part. Don't even talk to a bank, let the broker win your business and earn a better rate. I have used Provincial Home Loans, great people and very good discount.

Gordonvale is very much detached from Cairns. It depends on what you want. You could buy a house and land out there and live a peaceful life. If you rent it put, it would only be to s family with a bunch of kids. But I would say a better demographic than Edmonton. Commute into Cairns would be...
