    Totally agree here, being a CAT LOVER and always had a cat or two. Cats tend to scratch their own furniture, it's something to do with their smell and territory. Ie the furniture and beds that go with them. Walls and skirting never seen a cat scratch, too smooth my guess, would prefer a tress...
