i havent seen a piece of land that is around 800m2 in size, 10-15km from CBD and worth less than $300,000. so if i throw in a new house on top of it, the total price is roughly around $600,000. The place im looking at is carindale and it is near to the carindale shopping centre.

i saw people along that street bought the old houses, demolish them and rebuild with swanky brand new ones. the price of the land sold there are around $370k-$410k. i cant find any land available that is both close to the shopping centre and CBD below $350k at this moment.

im thinking of buying an old house, tear it down and get a builder (Dixons Homes) to build a new one. how easy/difficult is it? i have heard of rumours that cost will over-run and delays from builders. does a piece of land of 800m2 that is 12km away from the CBD worth $400,000? the...
