    Boglehead/Vanguard way to retire

Interesting discussion. If high yield and security is your aim then why wouldn't you target high yield REITs in either Aust or the US (though you'd be a bit late now to take advantage of the exchange rate :)). For example SNH is yielding about 7%. Here's an interesting read that shows the...

    Bank MECU Anyone?

I've been with them for about 4 years now and find their rates competitive. The guy that manages my investment loans has always been receptive to my requests to have the interest reduced when I can show competitors rates are lower.

    20 US properties in 4 1/2 years

What about options to invest in US REIT's? I see that some of them such as SNH are yielding over 7% and thus provide a cash flow positive option to a diverse portfolio of properties without the hassle of directly owning. I guess it's horses for courses;)

    Berlin and Guanzhou trip

Yes this sounds like a plan. I will check out property while I'm there, but I read somewhere recently that Germany's population will decrease over the next couple of decades. Plus the language issue.

    Berlin and Guanzhou trip

Hi all, I'm heading to Berlin for a month in mid March, just for fun. I'm not that familiar with German but am getting a few phrases under my belt. I'm renting an apartment through AirBNB while there in Mitte. My general interests are investing, motorbikes, gym, movies, etc. I'll also have...

Dalby and Moranbah - why the huge difference?

There are also fundamental differences between coal mining (Moranbah) and coal seam gas drilling (Dalby). Namely, coal mining is concentrated in a single area whereas CSG drilling is geographically spread over vast distances and single CSG drills are relatively short lived. Therefore you will...
