I lost thousands through Spann. He charged high fees selling products which made me no money. He got into bed with Macquarie, which he then sold Capital protected asia funds, buy write funds, Equinox funds all which ended been total disasters, but this didnt stop him from taking fees left...

ouch thats nasty, unfortunately the stock market carries a high risk, and really isnt a serious investment tool. if you consider the few percentage points extra return you get long term from shares over say bonds, is it really worth risking losing 1/2 your investment?

if you were holding QBE over the last 12 months, you would have seen a 50% drop in the share price.. so with 50% margin you would have been wiped out.. Just goes to show how volatile share investing is, and for the sake for a few extra percent return, you risk losing 1/2 your investment..

Since when does IP grow 100% over 4 years? and then your $750k would today be worth $100k as LPT's were not worth the paper they were written on! nope cause no adviser would assume any asset to double in 4 years!

somehow I dont know that his strategy would have worked over the decade.. the shares he purchased today are all dropping like a lead ball, so there would not have been any equity he could live from.. ALS QBE etc put the margin lending and the losses would have been magnified.

yeh thats what I'm thinking.. they could use power during the day and use up all the export power, hence I would not get paid anything. The meter will not show what is generated and used internally. Might be better to give it a pass.. the agent also said it can muck up concession...

I'm considering putting solar power on my rental property in victoria. What I want to do is setup the power bill in my name, collect the solar electricity generation, and charge the tenant for the power they use. Is there anything wrong with doing this? ie power bill shows the power...
