Residex doesn't service Melbourne (yet). There is a publication you can get from Information Victoria (I can't remember its name!!) which has information on property values in Victorian suburbs. It comes out annually but I've been on a waiting list for last year's...

Hi everyone,
I'm considering organising finance through Resi Home Loans - just wondering whether anyone's heard anything about them/had any experiences with them - good, bad or otherwise.
Cheers,
Gidget.

Does anyone know when the next Freestylers meeting is in Melbourne? I've been on the Freestylers web-site, but the dates for 2002 don't seem to be there yet.
Thanks (in anticipation!),

Hi Darren - I suggest you check out with the State Revenue Office whether you're entitled to pay only nominal stamp duty because its a transfer within the family (If so, the "consideration" section on your Transfer of Land document would read "Natural Love and...

I find another good (although less precise) method is to drive around the relevant area frequently and take note of where the "for lease" signs are and how long they stay up for. That way you also get an idea of what kinds of properties are taking a while to rent out...

Hi all,
Just wondering whether anyone knows of a decent finance/mortgage broker (preferably someone who invests in property themselves) in the Melbourne area?

I agree with Steven's last point Trina. I think you'd be far better to ask the Vendor to give you 3 quotes rather than getting the Vendor to agree to fix the problem before you purchase. You never know what kind of "quick and dirty" repair they'll do.

If...

Thanks for the tips guys. We'll bear all this in mind. We had a valuation done only a couple of weeks ago and the value came in at $290K (land size around 1200 sqm). The block next door (which is just over 6000 sqm) just sold this week for $1.3...

Thanks Michael. That sounds like good advice. The complicating factor is that we've only recently purchased the property - and bought it from my husband's family (it was his father's house but he passed away 12 months ago). We bought it for a fair market value...

Hi everyone,
My husband and I have an investment property in Chelsea Heights (an area which has seen great growth over the last 2 years). Our investment property is on around 1200sq m and we could fit 1 or 2 more units on the block STCA. That isn't really an option for us at...
