    What Hours do you Work?

For the question at hand, work is when your boss thinks you are working. If you are surfing somersoft during lunch then that's not counted as work. If you are doing it when you are supposed to be working then for this question I am counting that as work.

    What Hours do you Work?

I'm a farmer so my hours are all over the place, but I'm keen to know what hours other people work. Sheep shearers used to work from 7:30 am to 5:30 pm divided into 4 2 hour runs. They have a 1 hour unpaid lunch and 2 30 unpaid minute tea breaks. It's hard yakka so that's why they need long...

Tank water - who pays when it runs out

So if the house is not water efficient then the landlord would have to pay for all water delivered?

Tank water - who pays when it runs out

I'm just wondering what the regulations say about responsibility for water supply to a rental house. Regarding a rural rental property that has water supplied from rainwater tanks, who pays for delivered water when the water runs out due to drought? It seems that this issue is either a very...

    Fence removal and tipping

I don't know how well this would work - Tell the tenants that you suspect that they may have knocked the gate, if they pull the fence down and stack the bricks behind the house you'll let them off, otherwise you'll be asking them to pay. They'll also need to get a new letterbox.

Things to do in Canberra - day trip to see snow?

I would recommend 'Cockington Green' miniature gardens http://www.cockingtongreen.com.au/ If you are going to the Telstra tower then the revolving restaurant is good night out with excellent views. Also allow time for a walk around Lake Burley Griffin, the gardens are great.

    March floods. NSW and Vic.

We have been as close to flooding as you can get without flooding. I've had 250mm spread over the last month. There is water continually running off the farm. Water over roads everywhere. There is gonna be a lot of patching up of gravel and bitumen, but nothing serious like other places. I...

    Quickbooks or MYOB

I'm ready to upgrade my accounting software and I'm tossing up between Quickbooks Accounting ($349) and MYOB AccountRight Basics ($289). I'm only looking for basic bookkeeping software to complete BAS statements and prepare my tax return for my accountant. I don't need any payroll management...

    Newbie Fence situation

Make sure you are happy with the fence that is being built. Are the posts on your side or the neighbours? Generally all the fence in a street would face the same way so that every house has one fence with the palings facing the house and one with the posts facing the house.

    TC's 2009 farm thread

Nice looking crop TC. Did you see the bloke at Parkes having a crack at dryland sorghum? It was on the back page of The Land this week. Our season has been too wet, 850mm for the year. This is worse than any drought we've ever had. More annoying is that just 10Km from me on lighter soils and...

    Outsourcing - "White Collar Recession"

The cost of living is the employees point of view. The guy writing out the wages cheque takes into account the exchange rate. A market based exchange rate helps struggling economies recover by giving them a competetive advantage. It may be cyclical, but I think there is a long term trend...

    robot vacuum cleaner

Why does every problem have to be solved with a trip to the shops to purchase more electric goods. You've survived so far without a robot vacuum and countless people have owned white cats for generations without robot vacuum cleaners. There must be other solutions to your problem. * put up...

    Spelling!!!

I agree with the OP that a lot of people have terrible spelling. It seems to be Gen Y and Z more than any other. It may possibly be related to all the extra curricular activities in modern schools at the expense of the basics. A person writing ads for a newspaper or website should have...

    Help - Tenant in Need

Would it be appropriate for the landlord to put in an insurance claim and let the insurance company determine whose fault it is?
