    vacuum cleaners

Man up and get a Wertheim, they are better than Dysons but don't market as much. You won't find them in Clive Peters etc, you'll find them in a vacuum cleaner shop. Use it for kicking the *** of any dust that dares get in your house. Then have a cheapo terminator like Rob to rock out with reno...

Remove fireplace with heat pump installation?

Ok so I've decided to take the old woodheater out. The heatpump is all nicely installed and SO MUCH NICER! Hooray for modern convienience. The next question, does anyone have experience sealing a chimney? any protips I should take under advisement? is it actually a job for a professional?

Low maintenance renters - Who are they?

I concur with single tenants with dogs. I have a house with a big yard perfect for dogs and they are desperate to get a place that is animal friendly.

    Landscaping

Learning to DIY is the only option I have, because the house game with a wonderful yard, roses and many plants. I have taken out a few but a LOT of hours have gone into it, so I had to man up and learn how to landscape. All in all it doesn't take much and all the information is on the...

what are ways to clean white grouting and keep it clean please.

I've got mould forming on coloured parts of my bathroom as well as the white bits of the roof. The roof I'm not worried about bleeching, cause it's white, however what would be advice for scrubbing it from the coloured parts? Just elbow grease and a clean toothbrush?

Remove fireplace with heat pump installation?

Hi guys! At the moment I have a fireplace in the optimal place for heating my lounge/dining/kitchen. Had the heatpump guy around who suggested putting the wall unit above where the fireplace sits, however this would mean removing the fireplace (as it can't be used if the heatpump sits...

    Subletting

I exaggerated mate. My *actual* mate rang me up and said that a mate of HIS is renting out the house, and was wondering if I knew anyone. So as far as the owner is concerned, I'm just some guy, although we have a close mutual friend :P I was going to call the guy myself and see what he...

    Subletting

I have a mate who is moving elsewhere and wants to rent his lovely 3 bdr house for $150 p/w. I can easily rent the place out for $300 p/w, so what I'm wondering is what are the legalities of me renting from him and, assuming his lease allows it, me subletting the house for a profit? I'm...

    IP Carpet?

Another awesome thread for just what I need lol! My house really needs new carpet, although I'm thinking of not doing the whole thing. I have pretty awesome boards under the whole house, so I was thinking of just doing the bedrooms (at the moment bedrooms, hall and lounge are carpeted)...

    Built in robes

Very much thanks everyone! I have a question in terms of getting them put in. One of my bedrooms has them, although they are pretty old style. Do you think it's a good idea to get custom built, go a cheap build or get something portable?

    CBA/Colonial loan question

I have the 3 year special economiser and I researched the same questions. It costs to switch to fixed but that difference was worth it to me with what I thought rates were going to do, as well as the features and costs associated with the loan. My only query was when I got the loan itself...

To jump or not to jump

I have just purchased and couldn't be happier. My finance was approved about a month ago so I've seen two rate drops, and from what I read more to come. Anyone who can't get a property for much less than the asking price is not doing it right. Even then, and even is prices drop a bit, my...
