    AirBnB Success Stories

I didn't actually attend the meeting as I am overseas for work but from speaking with my fiance/ co-owner who attended, it seems as though someone reported us to council (who haven't yet responded), but will withdraw their complaint assuming we stop as the consider "the issue resolved". We got a...

    Airbnb and Strata

Good question VTT Apparently some of the owners view it as a "security risk" - in their defense it seems we had some pretty stupid guests- one knocked on someone's door asking where unit ten was, and another tried to get into someone else's apartment thinking it was number ten which...

What do you consider a casual "walking distance"?

    Single digits in minutes :):)

    AirBnB Success Stories

Our airbnb success story is unfortunately over- our strata has now formally banned it. We were planning to move in at the end of this month regardless so it's actually been great timing but disappointing nonetheless as it would be nice to rent it out on weekends and holidays !

    Airbnb and Strata

Update: We've had the strata meeting and our Airbnb dream is over. We are quite happy with the outcomoe though, our final guests are able to stay until the end of their stay (end of this month) and we are moving in at the end of the month regardless, so it achieved it's purpose of covering the...

    Is Bendigo past it's prime?

Wow, looking at Geelong makes me feel much more confident about Ballarat! I know Geelong has a lot going for it that Ballarat doesn't (closer to Melbourne, on the coast larger population etc) but it's nice to see that a "regional city" (albeit larger) can get those kind of prices- might be a...

    Thoughts on this sydney purchase?

Sounds like good fundamentals. Sydney's prices are out of control but there is limited land within 10km of the CBD so if the market collapses, I feel purchases like this will be relatively safe (well that's what we tell ourselves with a relatively similar property we purchased in Sydney late...

    Is Bendigo past it's prime?

We've just purchased an IP in Ballarat Central- we chose Ballarat due to proximity to Melbourne, decent yields, and although probably not the smartest reason for an IP, just really liked the "vibe". Ballarat also seems to be more reasonably priced than either Bendigo or Geelong. Best areas...

    Airbnb and Strata

Absolutely- as stated previously, we have no plans whatsoever to ignore the by-laws when/if they come in. It was merely a point of interest. Some people are just not suited to communal living. <-- I hope this wasn't aimed at me given my constant clarifications !

    Airbnb and Strata

Thanks for everyone's valuable input, much appreciated ! To clarify, I am not questioning whether it is allowed or not, or even planning to continue if / when it is officially "banned" - I am merely curious about what the repercussions would be if someone were to continue- it's your property...

Ideas to boost rental yield on this property

Pet friendliness can also increase cash flow- as a pet owner I can attest to this !

    Airbnb and Strata

Hi Somersofters, I wrote a post recently on our recent experience with Airbnb- essentially we purchased our PPOR but couldn't get out of our lease without substantial costs, so opted to put our PPOR on Airbnb in order to avoid paying both mortgage and rent. We have a strata meeting coming...

    Geraldton? What are your thoughts???

DDDKEFather not a Gero local (but was born there) but my Mum and Grandma both live there and both trying to sell their houses at the moment (for different reasons). Both properties seem to be pretty static from when they were purchased 4-5 years ago.

1st IP - Sydney - Parra? Macquarie Park?

With up to a million, you could get a much better yield- both within Sydney and out of state. Interested to hear how spending $800-$1m and only achieving $500 rent per week would only cost you $200 per month? For a similar price, you could get an established apartment in either the eastern...

St Kila East IP, growth not that great?

Hi guybrush- is the property going to auction? With a disclaimer that I'm only at this point a "looker" in the St Kilda East Market, (eg no purchases there) and only at apartments, are you confident you will get it for that price range? From what I have seen in the past few months, agents are...
