Best discount from commonwealth bank 0.94 off variable rate

That's a very nice discount indeed. I've been pushing hard but couldn't get them to budge past 0.8% discount. Even with threatening to take my loan elsewhere, but other lenders weren't offering much better. Apart from loan size, what other factors can help further the discount?

ANZ Bank: Standard Variable Mortgate Rate Rises 39 Basis Points To 7.80%

wow, 7.80%! 3.05% higher than the RBA cash rate Hasn't the norm been for banks to usually add an extra 2%?

Why there is no camera in the new iPad

I don't see why the iPad couldn't double as a phone with a BT headset. There are models with 3G access, so that shouldn't be an issue. Actually, if the iPad has BT connectivity (which I'm sure it does), and can run some sort of software that allows VoIP or GSM calls, then it probably will be...

    $5m cash to play with

5 * ~$950k luxury apartments ~$500k pa in rental income My numbers might not be sound, and to be honest if I actually had $5mil cash laying around I'd do my due diligence, but at a glance this seems like an easy way to invest. How much would something like this cost? Maybe just a...

    US real estate market

I find it interesting that the wheels on the cart are blurred out. I guess Google must blur out anything that may look like a face automatically :o

Should Elevated Ground Floor Apt be a security concern

I once lived in a ground floor apartment on a fairly busy street. The apartment complex was brand new and we were one of the first ones in. Anyway, a few weeks later there was a spate of robberies in my complex. Two apartments facing the street were hit, and a few others in the back (the...

Narrowed it down to Guildford or Meadowbank

I'd go Meadowbank over Guildford without question. Just look at the surrounding suburbs and amenities between the two. What does Guildford have going for it? A train station? Surrounded by Granville, Fairfield & Merrylands all places I would not want to invest in personally (I grew up in...

Post some pics :) Did the vet check him out for worms / health problems, or just to see if he was chipped?

Small vs Larger blocks of units

I'd go for the smaller one too. Generally, smaller complexes don't have lifts, pools, gyms etc and so strata levies should be lower.

Rubbish!!! (november/december interest rate thread, 2nd poll )

Sorry, I just remembered how passionate you were in the other thread about rates not moving for a while. I really don't want to get into an argument with you about economic policy, my post in this thread was said in jest, if it offends you then too bad :)

    Alfresco or no alfresco?

Go for it. If done properly, it can make the home look like a million bucks..

    Canberra? A great mistake..??

If Canberra was closer to the coast or had a better climate, I'm sure it'd have a lot more hustle and bustle. If that were the case though, it'd probably be no different to Sydney or Melbourne and all the things that make Canberra what it is would be lost. Personally, Canberra is much too cold...

    Pergola Companies in Sydney

I'd also be interested to hear of anyone who has done this in the Sydney area. I want to create a 'seamless transition' from the dining area to the pergola and turn it into an alfresco area. From what I can tell, I'd just need to lay a concrete slab and tile over the top, but I'd prefer to...
