Not yet, but I see the start of one.
I wouldnt call it herd mentality until the mainstream media jumps on Aussie Johns bandwagon which will cause the greater majority of the population to follow.
These things dont happen in a day.
Remember, near the top of the boom almost every media...
There will always be buyers, just not as many buyers as there are sellers.
Markets in general work like this - when there are more buyers than sellers prices go up because the sellers can hold for the best offer.
When there are more sellers then buyers, prices fall, because buyers know...
I was basically making the point that this boom was essentially bigger than the last boom because the REAL rate of return was larger than the previous one which was more just house prices keeping up with the high inflation rate at the time.
You have countries where the inflation rate has...
Hi Les, have a look at the inflation rate between 83 -89 and you'll seee the real rate return in that period.
The high inflation rate of the period is often ignored by investors and always conveniently not mentioned by spruikers trying to prove their claim that property doubles every 7-9 years.
I think his motive is the same as why he started aussie home loans in the first place. He is one of the few people that has a genuine soft spot for the Aussie battler because he has been there himself.
Sure it was a marketing campagin that worked and made him rich but it was also a realisation...
While I'm not John, I think he would answer by saying that this phase is different because the preceding "step" was greater than all the previous steps, and so the following phase is going to be a lot harsher than previous ones.
It was a good program on Sunday. Bare bones, tell it like it is...
sure we have. And like I always said it would take a good few years before we saw the end of the declines. We've just had year one. ( yes and there will still be some areas that see price gains - its a lottery finding them though but aussies like to gamble so you can bet some will still try)...
I'm not Panic, but its interesting to see that there are a few more people on this forum who believe that its actually possible that property prices can be overvalued. Suggesting this about a year ago was tantamount to admitting you should be institutionalised! At least now people are seeing...
I'm not too sure if anything will happen in December . This evenings speech by Ian Mcfarlane may give a very good indication.
It looks as though he is urging the lenders to do their bit in reducing household debt and credit quality as opposed to forcing it himself by raising interest rates...
Interesting article.
I noticed this week that in Glebe there were 613 properties for sale on realestate.com.au but the following week, only were listed 525. There were only a small number actually sold in that week. Could they have lost a couple of REA subscribers in that area?
Simon Baker sounds like a great achiever .
Thanks for posting WS.
The only contact I ever had with Simon Baker was an email I sent suggesting they look at some way of reducing the number of spelling errors. I know this has been raised on this forum as well. He said that they cant really...
I agree, I'm sorry. Thats the first time I read my post. I had a few (or far) too many beers Saturday night when I wrote that. I don't even remember writing it.
Thanks for the switch.

Yes, I think if you're suffering from "buyers remorse" before you've even bought its only going to get worse if you buy while youre not totally comfortable with you're decision.
Thanks mono. My figures don't take too much effort to obtain.
ie for cairns its just these three URLS -...
Nice to know, I'm in your thoughts See change.
Been studying Cairns since a visit there in March last year. Liked it.
Congratulations on your gains in Rockie - thats great news. 50% in a bit over a year, wow. You must know how to find bargains.
I dont think anyone will know with...
