    End of an Era

Not really sure what to say. I grew up on Somersoft and am really sad to see it go for what seems to be commercial reasons. I can't say I'm enamoured of the idea of transferring to a new commercial forum and starting from scratch. I like the community here, the tone and the lack of ads. I...

Possible to replace just a kitchen bench?

But this is all about replacing the benchtop... Now's the time to swap out his stove if he wants to as he can cut any size hole he likes in the new benchtop he sources... :D Cheers, Michael

Is being an owner builder worth it?

I didn't take any time off work, but I did forego my weekends for about 2 years running, and my public holidays including Easter, Christmas, you get the idea... We're 99% done now and we've agreed to down tools for a while and enjoy ourselves a bit again. Its been a lot of hard work for a...

Is being an owner builder worth it?

Definitely worth it... I've just finished my new PPOR in brisbane as an Owner Builder. I did a lot of the chippie work myself but tendered most of the specialist trades and basically acted as any normal builder would. Sure, I don't have a "team" around me of regular tradies that I use, but...

See Change and Richard Feynman . let's hype the sydney market thread .

Hi Cliff, I noticed this little result in there too: 3/1630-1632 Pittwater Rd, Mona Value. 3 bed unit. $945,000. Nice!! That's not far from my three new 3 bedders I built in the same street. Happy days. Cheers, Michael

See Change and Richard Feynman . let's hype the sydney market thread .

Guys, More hype in the SMH today. I'm not sure the headline runs true though, the growth that "nobody" wants... The extraordinary Sydney house price growth that no one wants So glad I held on to my little piece of Sydney! :D Cheers, Michael

Sydney Market at top - calling a severe correction in 2018-2019

No no no... My 3 bed, 2 bath, DLUG places in the heart of Mona Vale have 1's in front, not 3's... :D Nothing THAT flash. Cheers, Michael

Sydney Market at top - calling a severe correction in 2018-2019

Absolutely! Land scarcity is what drives appreciation and land that close to beaches with good local amenity and easy access to a major capital city is scarce. You're spot on, and I agree big land out west has less scarcity value. Cheers, Michael

Sydney Market at top - calling a severe correction in 2018-2019

My shacks on the Northern Beaches are 35km from the CBD and I'd class their capital appreciation as "decent"... Cheers, Michael

Sydney Market at top - calling a severe correction in 2018-2019

To the OP question, is the Sydney market at a top? Well, today's media says its selling better than it ever has suggesting we're rocketing into peak market conditions. But I'd be loathe to call this the top. For me, this has a long way to run before it peters out. Sydney auction market...

Sydney Market at top - calling a severe correction in 2018-2019

Too true! :) We started our current PPOR in Brisbane having relocated here with work. We held our three properties in our development in Mona Vale because we were scared we'd be priced out of the Sydney market if we ever wanted to return home to Sydney. As it turns out, our new PPOR in...
