Ant problem - should I sell??

Brocky - thanks, I'd be interested to know how your dad got rid of them. The pest guys who have been treating the house have treated the ceiling space several times, plus we've attacked possible and evident ingress points right around the perimeter of the house. Every few months. It's good...

Ant problem - should I sell??

Hi Macca, it may well be possible. The little buggers are under the roof insulation as well as in it, if that makes sense. I'll have to look at the cost (always a factor!) but think it would be a viable way to reduce their numbers.

Ant problem - should I sell??

Thanks Chris. I think I might just move back into the house and resume the diligent annihilation I used to do. In time I'll look at the roof option too. They're never going to go away completely I know....sigh.

Ant problem - should I sell??

Thanks Chrispy, the insulation is the problem in my case too. Lifting the roof is exactly what I'm been thinking of doing too, but haven't yet got quotes. Did it cost a motzah?

Ant problem - should I sell??

It definitely gets worse in spring and summer, then is less noticeable in the colder months.

Ant problem - should I sell??

I have a pest company in every few months to keep them under control, but it gets beyond a joke when they start streaming out of power points and dropping out of down lights. It's a big problem. I'm in Weston.

Ant problem - should I sell??

Hi all, I'd be interested in your views please on a situation I'm in. I have a 4 bedroom house in a good area, which is currently rented out. The house is great - I bought it as my PPOR - but it has a HUGE ant problem. There's basically an ant colony in the ceiling, not picked up before purchase...

Property knowledgeable accountants in the ACT

Could anyone recommend an accountant in Canberra who knows about property investing (and isn't scared of it), won't try to sell me something, and isn't a complete tosser? I thought I'd lucked on to somebody but he's not too good at following up with things... Thanks!

    Canberra for investment?

It sounds like I might be wise to keep my second option of Brisbane open. I'd better check posts on how to buy interstate! I'm keen for capital growth so I can grow enough to pay down my PPOR and purchase another IP. Geoffw - how do I find it about prospects for growth? RP data? I'm still...

    Canberra for investment?

Canberra for investment Thanks Nemo30. I've found a townhouse with a 5.89% rental yield that seems pretty affordable (ie good price, just not sure yet about maintenance prospects or body corporate fees) This seems decent to me but I'm not too sure! The tenant is in place and wants to stay...

    Canberra for investment?

First time post, so please be kind! :) I'm renting out my 4bedroom home and renting elsewhere, just for a lifestyle change. This has freed up some cash and I'm looking at investing in a property under $400K. I live in Canberra, so I'm naturally (as a rookie investor) contemplating buying here...
