2GB was talking about being able to instantly write off renovations to IP for a regular mum and dad investor. Ie spend $20k doing a kitchen or bathroom in a IP. My understanding was this isn't correct?

so all of this argument relates to break fees. how do banks cost up the break fees? is all the banks the same?

What is the view on these? Seems like some good quality high rises going up at prices 40% cheaper then similar in Sydney. Is there too much supply? Is vacancy rates too high for investors?

Thanks for your comments. This is for a renovation only. So for example, can I use Complying Development/CDC for the 2nd floor addition. Then use for example a council DA for the swimming pool (knowing that this doesn't comply with complying development route)?

Does anyone know if a complying certificate and a council DA can be done simultaneously?
