    End of an Era

I haven't visited for a couple of days and what a shock to see this thread... Thank you Jan, Ian, Sim and all the contributors for an invaluable resource. I've signed up on the other site but not sure if I'll be visiting as much. Call me old fashioned but I really got to like this layout...

My subscription just expired so I'll have to make a trip to the newsagent to grab a copy. Congrats to you both!

A few quick questions from a newbie

What's that got to do with the price of fish?

Gladstone QLD - How is it Going????

Daniel who is your PM? My house was vacant for 6 months! Insurance took some time to come through, then Christmas so some of this delay I can understand. And the only applicants were ones on the dole - which doesn't always mean bad things but in my case they were all dodgy. It's probably the...

Gladstone QLD - How is it Going????

My properties luckily came through the cyclone unscathed. But they both became vacant around the same time (before the cyclone) and it's been a little difficult finding decent tenants given the state they were left in. My property manager keeps saying the rental market is bad and not really...

Gladstone QLD - How is it Going????

Does anyone know whether the situation in Rockhampton is similar? I have a property there which I decided to offload (at a loss) but no takers so far and if I can't sell it I'll have to spend some money to fix it before I could re-let (to a dodgy tenant at reduced rent...) Just not sure if...

Thanks Macca and EverydayTrader. I tend to overanalyse (=overcomplicate) things so your post ET resonates with me.

How to make 100k in your spare time.

Hi Ace, can I ask - did you identify a niche which you intend to fill or are you essentially muscling in on a crowded market with a view of coming out on top? I'm guessing the latter and will be watching with interest.

Have dropped rent by $35... ouch!

I had to drop $50 on one property in Perth, $45 on another in Mandurah, and $50 and $20 respectively on two more in Rockhampton. All within 6 months of each other. That wasn't pleasant.

    Day Trading

Interesting thread. Trading is something I'm considering but I'm a total noob so not quite sure where to begin. I acquired a couple of books to start with (by Guppy, Radge, Van Thorpe) which I'm slowly getting through - so that covers some of the theory, but where does one start with the...

Which one? Redcliffe, Brighton or Slacks Creek

I went to Brissy a year ago to have a look around at Logan/Redcliffe areas and of the two, I'd pick Redcliffe. Saw a lot more of the undesirables around Logan, whereas Redcliffe had a surprisingly relaxed, beachy vibe, not what I was expecting given the "Deadcliffe" reputation. But this is...

I'm not actively in the market atm but I'll throw in my 2 cents. Market has moved in the inner suburbs, my agent in Sandy Bay has been saying he's been very busy for over a year now. Lots of people at home opens. A few reno and flip deals have been happening in the area that I've noticed eg...
