    Rise of the Creative Class

Working in the public service, I see many creative types, and they are such ******s. They have no technical skills and all decisions they make end up failing because they think high level and ignore the detail. They talk about their creativity as if it were a status symbol that makes them...

What hope do they have with a parent like that?

1st Home Owner, personally I don't think it's a good idea to go around telling other people how to spend their money. I have been there and done that. You should let people do what they want to do because different people have different values. Personally I wouldn't get married and have children...

    Material for debt reduction

Commonsense would say to reduce debt you pay it off. To pay it off you need spare cash. To get spare cash you need to either increase income or reduce spending (or preferably both). Many people say that the banks must lift their variable mortgage rates in line with the RBA's cash rate. But why? The cash rate is the rate at which banks lend to each other overnight. Real estate must go up greater than 6% otherwise investing in real estate would not be profitable. Let's say real estate goes up by 7 per cent and adding rental income you get...

    Soros says sell gold

Soros actually purchased a lot of gold in spite of his comments that gold is the ultimate bubble. See http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/8521680.stm Just because something is bubbling, it doesn't mean you should sell. Soros once said, "When I see a bubble, I buy it."

How Do I Become a Property Fund Manager?

Many people I talk to say that they don't like it when their super fund invests in stocks because stocks are risky. They prefer to be invested in residential real estate because Australian property always goes up and is risk free. I know that it is possible to invest in residential real...
