    Do I secretly like work?

I used to do my job as a hobby for no money. Now I earn a living from it. Plenty of people are happy working regardless of the income. Sure I'd like to retire in 10 years because I do work long hours and often on weekends, but I work in a young person's game so retiring at 50 would be acceptable.

    Road rules at Victorian intersections

I fear you might be correct Aaron. I can't find anything online about cars being stationary in the bike lane but what you're saying makes sense. Yet they NEVER do it at the Punt Road intersection. On that occasion the bike lane is on the LHS. At Victoria St it starts in the LH lane but then...

    Road rules at Victorian intersections

Truth be told? So I can say something to those who have their windows down in hope it improves over time. All research so far indicates they can cross the bike lane, but not stop in it but I want proof. It's hard going riding a bike in peak hour

    Road rules at Victorian intersections

I tried the Vic Roads site but could only find reference that cars could cross the bike lane if changing lanes. Couldn't find anything about cars sitting in the bike lane coming up to intersections.

    Road rules at Victorian intersections

I ride a bike to and from home in Richmond to work in Collingwood every day. For most of the way there is a dedicated bike lane including clearly marked green painted lanes at some intersections. Now I know that a car is able to cross a bike lane for 50 metres provided the driver gives way to...

    Life, Disability, Income Insurance etc

Weg, yes I faced a similar problem when trying to sort this originally. I wanted to insure for more and have 3 employees, but essentially I'm the bread winner. The hardest part for them to understand was that if I took 2 months off, I would still have income, but not so much in 6-12 months time...

    Remainder of advertising fee

And then you get to pay for the ad in the paper with a huge logo and slash over it saying "SOLD" so the RE agent can attract more vendors. Can't imagine too many vendors agreeing to pay for this one if they had a choice!

I'll definitely look into it thanks Sash.

Kiyosaki's Cashflow Quadrant - Which Quadrant are you?

Most income comes from my small business. We've started a second business that although also small, is a lot more passive and we're moving income into investments when we can.

    Lease Negotiations

Maybe it's worth getting a valuation done on it for peace of mind. I had the commercial property we rent valued with a view to buy and was informed the market value rent was $34K annually (we are paying $36K so that's probably okay). The landlord actually wanted $48K originally though so I'm...

    Asset Protection

I know having spoken to my lawyer when we had wills drawn up last year, that IF you leave anything to your partner, then his future partner could have claim on it because you left it to them and therefore they can do as they please. I would ASSUME it's deemed more important by a court to...

    Life, Disability, Income Insurance etc

Glad to know I'm not the only one paying extreme amounts. A large part of ours is the income protection because we went the whole hog. For example, my husband is a record producer so if he gets hearing damage he can't do his job. The broker explained that if we have the wrong cover they...

    Life, Disability, Income Insurance etc

Just wondering who here has insurance (not including your Super policy) and which type. Ours (we have all 3 types) is costing $11K a year and I'm thinking about letting it go.

First Home/Investment - St Kilda or Pakenham or Chelsea (VIC)

I lived on Scotch Parade. For me it was too far from shops and the train station. I don't drive so it felt very isolating.

Since youre just starting out you'll probably run at a loss to begin with, so don't forget that if you're registered for GST you'll get refunds every quarter if your GST expenses outweigh the income
