Difference b/w Oz and UK property markets

Of course not... just showing how it's possible for there to be a 'shortage' and still end in falling house prices. Jeez. I thought we just went over this. Talk about going round in circles. Relative to population, the growth is actually the same. Around 350,000 additional people...

Difference b/w Oz and UK property markets

To your argument it matters, but why does it matter overall? Um. Duh? More people. More houses. They were also crying housing shortage before their recession too. We have plenty of houses. I don't know any homeless people on account of not being able to find a house to buy or rent. Do you? In...

Difference b/w Oz and UK property markets

lol, well, a couple of things: Yes, the argument is flawed. it's actually 38%, not 54%. Doesn't exactly create much respect for this report does it? also, we're using percentages again and this might support the argument presented by Keithj, but i could just as well argue that with the Uk...

Difference b/w Oz and UK property markets

I have explained this to Shadow before, yet he doesn't seem to take anything on board. 0.6% (the actual pop growth) of the UK population represents the same number of people as 1.7% of Australia's population. So both countries are adding approx. 350,000 people per annum..... considering the...

Renting Makes More Financial Sense Than Homeownership

So what is interest/holding costs? And this CG has been paid for by you via years of non-tax deductible interest and holding costs indexed by inflation! PPOR is compulsory saving at pretty average appreciation rates. Much better to rent and save the difference to lever for further...

    Buying Ip and tennets

If the tenancy agreement is for a fixed term (such as 6 months, 1 year, etc), the landlord cannot increase the rent before the end of the term unless the agreement makes specific provisions for a rental increase, in which case the landlord must give 1 month's written notice before the rent...

ANZ are dropping fixed rates again

Then maybe they should change the report to 'ANZ drops rates on fixed term mortgages for new customers - or those that ask nicely' :p

ANZ are dropping fixed rates again

but fixed term loans expire every day so people HAVE to refinance if they want to continue on fixed....... and the refinancing costs when you are out of your fixed term are just loan establishment fees, so you WOULD save if you refinanced to a lower rate of even -0.2%. the percentage of loans...

ANZ are dropping fixed rates again

Myla & Boomtown - my posts were related to the topic of discussion on this thread. How are yours related?

ANZ are dropping fixed rates again

Sorry bad choice of wording. 40% of loans refinanced. You can catch my drift.

ANZ are dropping fixed rates again

Really? Because the percentage of loans that are for refinancing (rather than new purchases) is around 40% of all loans..... meaning 40% of loan holders refinancing every day.

ANZ are dropping fixed rates again

It's called refinancing. :p .....and trying to attract customers to their bank instead of going to another bank by offering lower rates. typical marketing ploy.

    Buying Ip and tennets

Not until the contract is up. And it's 'tenants' not 'tennets'.

ANZ are dropping fixed rates again

No reduction in credit card interest rates and a drop in mortgage rates for NEW customers only. Says it all really. Someone is trying to reinflate a lagging market.

I just seen an interesting headline on BBC UK

I actually created a calculator that does this myself. If you want financial freedom in retirement, you are often better off investing an extra $10k pa (adjusted for inflation/pay rise every year) into a term deposit over your life. There are some currently offering 8.4% fixed for 5 years...
