    50% transfer duties? (qld)

One thing I forgot to mention was both my wife and my name is currently on the mortgage loan. Does that make a difference? A refinance?

    50% transfer duties? (qld)

No that's not that what I to do. First, do 50% transfer as a gift (it is our main residence) and we both end up in eqaul shares. No Duties payable. Second, sometime AFTER the above has happen, my wife transfer her 50% to me as a normal transaction. I pay duties on 50% market rate (this...

    50% transfer duties? (qld)

Hi, I've read some post on here about transfering duties between spouse but still not 100% sure. So my situation is this, my spouse and I have lived in our current home for the past 7 years, we are planning in the future to move to another house and rent out the current one. The...

    Biotech

Got lucky with a punt once, made 1000% over 2 days with ADO about a year ago. Still not a bad play now IMO. But don't put down any money that you can't afford to lose, I'm sure those that bought near the top of those 2 days would not have been happy.

    Demographia 2011

There's a flaw in your calculation. You are using median household income to purchase a median house but you only used a FHB deposit, that is you only put in 10%. What if the median buyer already has a property and used the equity of that to purchase the median house? I don't know...

What is the purpose of an iPod Touch

11 years old too young for an ipod touch? My brother-in-law gave his 4 year old son an ipod touch! He play games on it and I was quite surprise at how fast he can pick up on how to play them, he even teachs his mom how to play some games. I put some music videos on it for him as well...

    Clem7 - Are QLDers scared?

I was going to give it a try last saturday but when i came up to the south entrance on the pacific motorway I saw a line up to get into the tunnel! No way I was going to go through the tunnel if a carpark had developed all the way to the entrance.

    Australian Sharemarket

Spec biotech seems to be the flavour at moment. Last week was ADO which almost topped 1000% in 2 days. I only managed to catch 200% of it, those that got it at the bottom must be happy. This week was VLA 200% then came PNO which climb 64% before going into a trading halt due to come out of...

    Dont you just hate that?

no real point, just making an observation. Certainly, although we are surpose to take the emotion out of investing. If you're buying in then it means you think you know something that gives a good probability of the share going up. "Hoping" won't change that probability. do you use any...

    Dont you just hate that?

reading this thread especially boods post reminds me of the "way of the turtle" where it talks about taking advantage of the market emotions. • Hope: I sure hope this goes up right after I buy it. • Fear: I can’t take another loss; I’ll sit this one out. • Greed: I’m making so much money, I’m...

Contemplating a move to Brisbane, some insight appreciated...

Oh no no, I've been to the Oriental at Aspley, its nice but its not on par with Sunnybank. When the Oriental start getting people lining up outside, blocking off one whole side of the shopping mall complex, waiting 30 mins with a ticketing system just to get inside to eat the yummy food. Then...

    Half a million dollars

even 200K sounds too low. I've been working for 10 years and I have 130K in super and I've only been on high income for 3 years. If I work for another 30 years with compound interest I will break the million mark easily. I think that 80k will rise as more of the gen x and y gain more years...

    Gas hot water

A bottle a month sounds rather much. We use 45kg bottled gas for hot water and stove and we go through a bottle about every 2 months for a 2 person household.

ITWV Application 2010 - Nearly time to start working on it.

You can put in multiple ITWV so what you should do is put your estimate now then around April next year you do your estimate again and if it looks like you're overestimated and will end up paying the ATO then just submit another ITWV with updated estimate. The ATO will send out another...

Signed contract - accountant says "Don't do it!"

Actually, reading the OP it appeared she went to the accountant for advice on finance setup for tax purposes and instead got investment strategy advice. So he gave advice alright, just not the one she asked for.
