They are indeed deductable..my accnt. was a little embarrassed about it all. However, I let him off seeing as though I get my entire tax back. Lucky for him!

    Disbursement , Can You Claim

Thanks for the input. I've re-read the ATO Rental Property Guide 2007 and I'm sure the accountant is wrong as well. I'll discuss this further when I go to sign the return, and let you know..I'll take the Guide with me!

    Disbursement , Can You Claim

Fresh back from the accnt.- disbursments (ie. water, rates, strata, emerg. serv. fund, etc.) at settlement form part of the COST BASE, along with building insp. report, searches and disbursements, regn. of transfer, conveyancing fee, stamp duty and purchase price. BORROWING COSTS are strictly...

    teeth problems

Believe it or not, I had gum surgery a while ago. What a hoot that was. Spitting out stitches, slurping through straws...and having to finally shut up! Capped off a great month when you factor in the relationship breakup, paydrop, mediation, 2.5K C'link backpayment to the ex., and extra study...

I'm going to include them in the immediate deduction section, and will let you know how I go after seeing the accountant this Friday (assuming my group certificates arrive in time). Will get back on this one. Regards, Skye

    Empty Nest

Hi Geoff, I admire your dedication and drive in providing for your family, whom you obviously adore (and I'm sure it's reciprocal). I get the feeling, though, that you are experiencing a sense of inner turmoil with the realization that you are stifling your personal being as a consequence of...

I don't want to go to work tomorrow

Excuse me, Mark, but I am being serious. The reality is they ARE "making my life harder", as a consequence of the push for these "better conditions". Obviously, Mark, I do not view this as a deliberate, personal attack but the end result, as shall be confirmed in my next paypacket, will indeed...

Still no tenant - life looking real dim. Pretty miserable

Advertise at the lowest price you can deal with, include all agents in town, and the carrot- 2 weeks rent free. Then increase the rent in smallish jumps allowing for the 60 day clause. Good luck!

I don't want to go to work tomorrow

Well I just received a note home in the kidlets' schoolbags- industrial action/snap strike TOMORROW! So, guess I get a day off. But know what? I want to be at work; I needed to be working, and have put a big strain on my co-workers with such short notice. I'm peeved. Teachers are holding us to...

    Wills, Funerals, and everything nasty.....

As soon as children came along so did the will. Of course a will is necessary even if there are no dependents. First time around I did one myself, but soon upgraded to State Trustees for a nominal fee. I've found it so much easier to structure with S.T. onboard- only problem is they have...
