    Bathroom minor reno costs?

I need a 750x750 mm due to small space, and such sizes are available, though a bit hard to source. OK, makes sense then. Doesn't sound too good an option. How much of a discount can I generally expect for a cash payment?

    Bathroom minor reno costs?

Only for the new shower cubicle. But I'm having second thoughts about having that new shower installed, if that is going to blow out my budget. I've requested a new quote that separates the cost of the new bathtub from the new shower cubicle. I'm still awaiting two other quotes.

    Bathroom minor reno costs?

The cost break down was ( for both tub replacement and new shower stall) $620 for floor tiles $350 for wall tiles $185 for bath ( tub? I assume! It wasn't very clear) $150 shower screen Waterproofing for both bathroom and shower wasn't costed explicitly but mentioned in the quote. So...

    Bathroom minor reno costs?

I need to have the bathtub replaced and ideally, a shower added to an existing toilet area (the area is large enough for 750 x 750 shower stall). The first quote came through at $13,500  I mean, do they need to waterproof everything again? I can understand that there might be some...

Would you consider, Reverse Mortgage today!!

I am to be filthy rich by the time I retire :D Having said that, the future is impossible to predict. If circumstances were such that it was an expedient choice, I would probably consider it. I don't aim to have any offspring so bugger leaving any money behind :p

Whats one of the first "Toys" you bought? (adding fun value)

No toy yet, but my toy will be to buy my next PPOR on the coast somewhere with water views, or a brief stroll to the ocean front :D

    How can people "love" renovating?

I just started on the reno journey. I know my limitations though. I will stick to stuff I can learn quickly and easily, like painting and tiling. More than that is out of my league and that's when I call in the tradies. I love painting ( haven't got to tiling yet, but doesn't look too...

    Termite damage concern

Some great advice given by previous posters. I love it when the pest guy says 'no active termites detected'. Ha! A pest inspector said this on a report a few years back about termites in the garage ( timber structure). It turned out that since the inspection was done in the morning the...

    Anyone used lino flooring recently?

Hmmm... the floor would be fine but the checkered splashback is just too much. If it was me, and I like the checkered flood, I would replace the checkered splashback. Painting the cupboards white will go well with the proposed floor.

    Pro-painter - Painting 101 Help?

All pretty good tips above. I would recommend to use the canvas drop sheets. A bit more expensive than plastic, but at least it will stay well in place and it's not a slip hazard like plastic. I hate plastic sheeting. Go canvas for less hassle. Also, had a pouring spout lid for the 4 litre...

    Viynl Planking

If you are referring to the 'floating floor' type, then I've watched them being laid in my new house a few years back. The floor laying guy had all the equipment to get it done quickly and it didn't look too hard to do. Since my house had a huge number of corners that he had to work around...

Do you like "the Masters experience" ?

I've not yet been motivated to buy at Masters. I've dropped in on a few occasions when I was in the 'big smoke' to get some painting supplies, but on both I left without purchases because the range was extremely limited and the prices far too high for my liking. Since those experiences, my...

    short term furnished rentals

Are there any particular issues with renting out a fully furnished house on a day by day or short term basis, especially in relation to insurance for example? I'm aware that a property like that would need to be management intensive e.g. cleaning out after the guests leave, replacing linen...
