'Medico' package (85%+ LVR with no LMI) for IT workers

I was just looking at the Medfin website & they specifically mention nurses on their site: "Medfin Specialists understand more than just finance, they understand the customer service needs of medical professionals, practice owners, specialists, nurses, graduates and more." I would hope they...

    End of an Era

Lucky I just came back after a long hiatus - just in time to be able to migrate my username to PropertyChat :) Still sad to see the old site coming to a halt though. Thanks Jan & Ian, without your books & this forum I would have never seriously commenced property investing.

    Buying In Indonesia

That basically sums up all the reasons I need to completely rule Indonesia out of places I would even consider risking my money in. I'm sure people can & will make tons of $$$ there, but unless you have money to gamble with, there are plenty of much safer options.

Thanks Jess, now I understand why the one that's caught my eye has been on the market for quite a while.

Upkeep on timber homes - frequent? expensive?

I was hoping that being on the Sunshine Coast, it would have been too humid to have to worry much about bushfires. But all that oiling is certainly a dream-killer! Looks like no Ewok Village for me :(

Upkeep on timber homes - frequent? expensive?

The real timber, for me, is what gives it its charm, so I would hate to clad. I would also hate to have to be paying to have it oiled every 5-7yrs, so I'll have to rule this style out I think.

Had to Google that, it's actually from this company, which appears to no longer be operating as the last update on their prices was 2010. http://www.aussiehousesqld.com.au/

Upkeep on timber homes - frequent? expensive?

A property manager who gave me a rental appraisal on a home also mentioned concerns about the upkeep as there was a lot of timber. Having never had anything but BVs, I hadn't given this much thought. Does anyone here have past experience with the upkeep of a timber home along the lines of this...

    Miners Rest Ballarat-advice please

Yes, I think despite the population growing at a pretty good rate, the rate of housing supply has been quicker, particularly on the western side. Here's hoping for the 'ripple effect' Finrod speaks of to kick in.

    Sub-division Dilemma

I also prefer the side-by-side & would not personally want to live in a rear battle-axe property & figure it may reduce your pool of potential tenants/buyers.

    Miners Rest Ballarat-advice please

They are nice houses & attract tenants & owner occupiers of a decent socioeconomic background. Hopefully the crime was just a spate - I know they have caught several 'recidivist' offenders that were involved.
