See you all on the flip side!

    Future party leader

I reckon the combination of Turnbull and Bishop would be great. Doesn't matter which is PM or Deputy.

Will you have a Job in 2025..

I remember during the 80s being told as schoolkids that by 2010 we would only be working 2 days a week because of all the robots and computers doing everything for us. My prediction is that by 2025 we'll be working harder than ever.

July edition of The Somersoft mag - oops I mean API

I saw the article last night while shopping in Woollies, so I stopped and read about the famous twins! Well done ladies - inspirational and you looked great in the photos too.

Release equity and buy facebook shares

+1. You should just take your money to the casino and put it all on red for a single spin of the roulette wheel. At least it will be over quickly.

    Fast and slow words

Yep, sometimes it's easier to get into the habit of using the proper term rather than coming up with something else.

    Negative Gearing

Watched the report, and I thought there were some gaping holes in the discussion about tax. First, how much Capital Gains Tax do property investors pay each year? Last I checked, residential property investors alone paid something like $10B per year. How much of this will be lost if we...

What I like about this forum is that there are a range of views, but room for most. The real fringe dwellers don't seem to last too long, but anyone with something sensible to add gets a go. I've learnt a lot from this place.

What happens to borrowed equity if property prices crash

Negative equity isn't ideal, but it's hardly the massive scary monster some people make it out to. Anyone who has ever financed 100% of a new car has experienced negative equity, for example. Provided your cashflow is reliable and you make payments as required you'll be fine.

    Wage increase

I bought a bigger PPOR and am paying it down as quickly as I can. When I finish I'll be able to retire.

    Defining wealth

For me, wealth is having sufficient assets to give rise to enough cashflow that I can live the lifestyle of a well paid professional without having to work. When I can achieve that, I'll consider my wealthy.

If you're still poor at 35, you deserve it!

A good friend of mine has tried his damndest to start a tech company over the past few years. He is well qualified (undergrad and postgrad), well experienced and has tipped in over $300k of his own money. He had an interesting product, and did the design and testing himself. He holds...

    what is it about YOU?

I grew up around people like this. They were good at blaming and making excuses, and often got angry. It's not the money, it's the mindset that's the issue.

    2015-2016 Budget

Yeah ok, fair point. How much backpacker work would you say is above board, though? Much cash in hand work, or is not really worth it for farmers now?

    2015-2016 Budget

The current crop are nothing special, that's for sure. But they're far better than the last lot. The previous govt couldn't even agree on a leader, spent like drunken sailors and didn't achieve anything anyway.
