    november interest rate thread

Talking about october RBA meeting is pointless as there will be no interest rate change from RBA. About November there is a wide view of opinion. My view is no change, same thing for december EDIT: if you think there will be a rate rise in october and november you can vote +0.5 option

50 bp cut at april RBA meeting

seems 50 basis point is the way to go for RBA at the April meeting. In today RBA statement following last week meeting the central bank see scope of further cut in the CB overnight cash rate. From bloomberg so 54% are for 50 bp, I am with that and we'll just get ahead of NZ again ;)

can Banks just call in a loan?

I've read this report from the Australian about trouble if foreign banks call in loans. I am not too worried about foreign banks calling in loans now as loans in Australia still have value (and more likely be so in the future). Also I am sure government will step in buying all the assets banks...

    Update on bank funding costs

Interesting report on bloomberg about australian banks funding using the new government backing guarantee. I would call that more "the Australian bank bailout" as taxpayer will pay for those bonds if banks are not going to be solvent. Interesting to see that this bailout effect state debt...
