Not quite. In the case of TIC members wishing to attend any of these events, they need to pay for the privilege the same as any other person, these are not freebies, a la Storm. They often offer members the chance to gain more knowledge, mingle with like minded people, travel in style and in...

    FHOG Statistics

I found a more detailed table in the Ministers press release: http://www.tanyaplibersek.fahcsia.gov.au/internet/tanyaplibersek.nsf/content/tp_m_morerentals_1june2009.htm which breaks the figures down by state and by month, but still nothing as to how many are for new and how many for...

    FHOG Statistics

I read a couple of recent articles quoting Tanya Plibersek and Kevin Rudd as saying that: "The figures for April show that 18,736 first home buyers took out first home owners grants in April – the strongest month since the grants were launched in October last year." Does anyone know if there...

    Twi-Tiered Lending

Did anyone pick-up on this story in Mortgage Business the other day ? http://www.mortgagebusiness.com.au/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=2040&Itemid=37 Basically, the Guardian newspaper is reporting that the UK's largest building society, Nationwide When you consider that all...

    Warning; Investors Club

IMHO, The Investors Club is an excellent way to get a property-centric financial education. Having learnt what to do and how to do it, they can then decide if they want to use the club to help them or go out on their own. One of the tools that we use in the education process is FIDO which I...

I don't want to be picky, but this is only 1 bathroom and not new, so not really comparing like with like. Your $400 one is in Wakerly and much further from the amenities and transport of Wynnum. Here are a couple I found: $549...

Here we go again, half baked assumptions being touted as facts. This is not true. If you have had no personal experience with TIC, why make-up such stories ?

Is it worth changing to individual water meters ?

The laws in QLD have been in place for a little while now and I wondered what the consensus is on the cost advantages of paying to have individual water meters for existing QLD properties where they are part of a body corporate and have only a central meter ? What has been the experience of...

65% of all IP's are older than 40 years ?

More data from the ABS regarding the tax take by various levels of government. http://www.abs.gov.au/AUSSTATS/[email protected]/Latestproducts/5506.0Main%20Features22007-08?opendocument&tabname=Summary&prodno=5506.0&issue=2007-08&num=&view=[/URL] For those that subscribe to the buy and hold theory...

65% of all IP's are older than 40 years ?

Marg, I'm not convinced by your argument. I only know the Sydney, Brisbane and Gold Coast inner city areas well and when I look around, I see that the older suburbs are being in-filled with higher density housing, most of which would be younger than 25 years. If you consider than a a...

Are you a "Mum and Dad Investor"

I agree with Pully. I think the key is unsophisticated and probably un-eductaed regarding the finer points of property investing. Nothing to do with age or marital status or even the number of IP's held.

65% of all IP's are older than 40 years ?

I think the ATO figures only relate to the capital works deductions, or the old special building writeoff category, so the 24 years limit rather than 40 makes sense. However, I still find it hard to believe that these building all have kitchens/ bathrooms etc that would be more than 24 years...

65% of all IP's are older than 40 years ?

I recently had cause to browse through the Australian Taxation Offices latest statistics whilst researching for an article. You can find the Taxation Statistics 2006-2007 here: http://www.ato.gov.au/content/downloads/00177078_2007PER5B.pdf On page 21 of this document, you can see that the...

    Perth's worst performing suburbs

Thanks for that Fezz, very interesting. I had a look at one for East Cannington and noticed that unlike most of the other graphs, there is suddenly an enormous gap between the average and median prices for this suburb. I guess this means that there are many more higher value properties being...

The club is structured as a branch network, and there are something in the order of 20 branches throughout Australia as well as the UK,NZ & Hong Kong. Some branches are very small with just a couple of support members and some with many more and although we are all reading from the same...
