Thanks for all the replies. We currently use the offset against the ppor so I think we're doing everything right. We have just gotten to the stage that I want to reduce all debt over time. Might still put every $ against the ppor and keep options open with the IPs. Cheers

Just a quick one - our properties are all now cash flow positive from rent only. I am therefore thinking about switching to P&I to pay down the loans slowly however want to ask if there are other reasons for keeping them interest only?? Thanks

It's called fraud... Plus RE agents are supposed to look at your license when they fill in details of the purchaser. If you solicitor does it then it comes back to my first point. But let me know if you find a solicitor who is willing to put the wrong name on a contract intentionally!!

Can you buy both? If there is some good depreciation on both (the older due to the young couple having done the renos / the newer one due to it's age), then they should be cashflow neautral / positive at those rents?

Agree with what everyone has said and also want to point out that your idea of you and your husband using the unit in the future is also definitely NOT permitted if you buy through your SMSF. Good luck with getting rid of the 'advisor' too.
