    Cost of Draftsman

Hi all, I am looking at having some work done on my PPoR. I would like to knock down the "lean to" style toilet/laundry at the back of the house, build it up to floor level and turn it into a full bathroom. Also change a few rooms around, redo the kitchen and build a deck out the back...

    Mould..Who is responsible?

READ YOUR LEASE! READ YOUR MANAGEMENT DOCUMENTS! You can complain as much as you want, but unless you've specified that certain home maintenance is compulsory, you probably don't have a legal leg to stand on. Every contract that I've signed has a special conditions clause. Why not use it...

Does Better carpet = better tenants?

Go for the best that you can afford. I remember being a renter: I wanted a nice place but there was no way in hell I was going to pay for any extras. It's a lot easier cleaning up stains from the ugly vinyl than the beautifull carpets. Personally, I would never have carpet. I've now lived...

    Looking for mentor

Hi there, I would say that the best mentor is this site! ha ha. I agree, the best bet is to hire a mortgage broker or 2. Find out where you stand and then decide on which method you are comfortable with. There are way too many strategies to ask just one person advice on. Do you want...

    Growing things in the tropics

The panama berry sounds very nice as does the ice cream bean tree. Apparently there is one growing in west end so may have to go for a drive by!! I have just planted a custard apple in brisbane, and then read the instructions that it can be kept trimmed to 3 meters . Oh well, I guess...

    Growing things in the tropics

What about custard apple, macadamia, coffee, lychees, rambutans, mangosteens, sepote? Have a look at the local farmers markets (Parap etc) and go from there. Most asian stuff would have to grow easily in Darwin. Cheers

    Tv - Show Renovators

I love the show but think that there is too much emphasis on the decorating. I was hoping that they would explain a bit more about the actual processes of renovating and building that the average joe isn't aware of, but it is good that they are showing bricklaying and tiling. I don't know how...

    Been naughty again

Who are you cruising with? We went with Norwegian last October and can't recommend them highly enough. I'm very jealous, can't wait to do the panama canal cruise next. Florida is excellent too. If you can, spend a day at the Kennedy Space Centre. Cheers v

Comment by 'Miss V' in media 'Lake Eacham Atherton Tablelands FNQ'

Wow, that's really freaky, I thought someone had sabotaged my photos. Looks identical to a photo I took in Louisianna.

No price tag- do you bother?

What annoys me even further is obvious investment properties ie I look for blocks of flats, and they don't put down a rental figure or gross %. Pretty obvious what we're looking for here guys..... All well and good, cuts the wheat from the chaff etc etc, but I'm sure they are missing out on...

    GST on rent under $75000

Hi Peterw, I do have an ABN, but haven't registered for GST as I am still under the threshold. Also I don't really want to get involved in GST if I don't really need to. Will be speaking to my accountant ASAP. Thanks very much, V

    GST on rent under $75000

Hi everyone, I have a lease signed for my commercial property that states the rent is $15000 p/a. The security bond and deposit have been partly paid by installments, worked out on rent ($1250 p/m) plus GST. (total $1375) The first months rent and the 2nd and 3rd installment of bond are...

Water rates, quick ask before searching....

Hey everybody, Does anyone know the new laws on charging water rates to Qld tenants, especially now that we have Urban Utilities charging us seperate bills from rates. My latest water bill has gone up massively and I've previously had an audit done on my pipes so pretty sure there is no...

Most ridiculous thing you've had stolen

My car got broken into a couple of months ago, along with 15 others in the neighbourhood. All they got was about 30c, a chap stick (gotta keep those lips soft whilst robbing the hood!) and my favourite insulated screwdriver, which they then used to break into other cars. Lucky they missed the...

what do i do?? please help

I would definately report this agent to the principal. It is dispicable behaviour from anybody, let alone someone who actually deals with real estate. I am sure the principal would be very interested in hearing how immature one of his employees is behaving, and potentially disreputing his...
