    Floating or glued timber floorboards?

Thanks Bryn :) BodyCorp does have a regulation for acoustic underlay, so we're definitely allowing for that. There is an apartment below ours, and we were hoping to use engineered solid timber floorboards. Hence the 'uhmm, to glue or not to glue' dilemma :p

    Floating or glued timber floorboards?

I'm looking into changing the current carpet on our apartment (PPOR) to floorboards (considering engineered timber laid on concrete), and have spoken to various builders and shops. The timber flooring will be in the living room / kitchen. There are two schools of thought out there...

    OTP help

I had the same tactic used on me, on an OTP project. Same excuses too :) The extension is to satisfy the banks, construction will go ahead no problems, the apartment will be built before sunset clause date. If the project will definitely be completed before sunset clause date, then why should...

    Ultimate Medicine Thread

I've got a query - always been curious about it and this thread seems like a great place to ask. There have been many medical television shows that have become popular - House, Grey's Anatomy, Scrubs etc... Which of them most accurately portrays life in hospital? Personally I like...

    Are we rich or poor?

So what happens when said rich person is bored with the shiny bling-bling? Compete with celebrities for more bling-bling? Look for the next 'high' like snorting illegal drugs? I personally think its a little embarassing that one's life is defined by what the 'neighbours' have / doesn't have...

Studio investment at upper west side in melbourne

You did mention earlier that you wanted information to prove beyond a reasonable doubt to either proceed or not with signing the contract. As you seem to be comfortable with the idea of a UWS studio apartment renting out easily to either professionals or students within the Melbourne CBD...

I'm a tentative +1, dependent if I need to work late on that evening. :)

Studio investment at upper west side in melbourne

Kadinsky, as there is no '100% guarantee' in the property investment market, I doubt you will be able to find the 'certainty' or 'proof' you seem to be looking for. I honestly think you've already made up your mind to purchase the apartment.

    IP repairs-tax deductible

I fully intend to seek an accountant's help on this. Mathematics isn't my strong point, especially coupled with government regulations.

    IP repairs-tax deductible

Thank you Dave. So while the cost cannot be immediately deducted, may I start claiming the repairs as depreciation at the next tax year(s) - assuming it is already tenanted by then? Sorry for all the questions, I'm still trying to wrap my head around taxation benefits for IP. edit: thanks for...

    IP repairs-tax deductible

May I please ask further on this topic... If I have an IP that hasn't yet rented out, and I would like to do minor updates to the place beforehand, would it still be tax deductible? Updates would be: sealing both shower floors (there was a crack in one), pruning trees, steam-cleaning carpets...

20 reasons to date a doctor

Unable to find anything that matches your accusations of nurses. Please could you advise the specific page numbers and paragraphs? ... @ Newbie - IMO, China keeps on making random claims about the medical sector and also dismisses the opinions of actual medical doctors who posted on the...

20 reasons to date a doctor

@ China - I know right? How dare people come into the hospital with unscheduled life-threatening emergencies and mess around other people's operating times / staffing rosters? How unreasonable of them. They should have planned their emergencies beforehand and made an appointment with a doctor...

    Landlord from hell!

I think the potential lodger would have better luck staying in a serviced apartment. Room with some cleaning service, no visitor curfews, ability to have some private get-together's with friends, and ability to share some common areas. I'm surprised about the rule regarding not taking any...

20 reasons to date a doctor

Considering he looks down on every other job except cataract-surgeon specialists (apparently), I would think he would have great difficulty finding and keeping a date. === I have the greatest respect for nurses. They are experienced, work with the patients and medication firsthand and...

20 reasons to date a doctor

If China thinks he's severely underpaid, he'll probably think my pay is below the poverty line :) ... Back on track: Two of the benefits of dating a doctor are: 1) free flow of medical certificates if you wish to skive off work. 2) able to laugh at spoof music videos like Weird Al...

Legal question - OTP and keeping deposits

Glad to hear that your deposit will be returned in a few months :) The developer may either use a clause within the OTP contract stating that the project will not proceed and return the deposit (with interest? without?) via cheque. This was what happened for mine, the cheque + brief letter...
