Laminate vs polyurethane finish for bathroom vanity?

Thanks for this. I am more confused now though, as this is the first I've heard anything about PVC edges  At least I've got something to ask next time we go to the bathroom shop!

Laminate vs polyurethane finish for bathroom vanity?

Haven't got that far yet - still just trying to decide what style we want. I'm not sure if we need a joiner though - are you saying it would be cheaper to get a vanity built by a joiner than buying one from a shop? Can you explain why you wouldn't use two pack.

Laminate vs polyurethane finish for bathroom vanity?

I've discounted vinyl wrap as I read it does not hold up as well as laminate or polyurethane finishes. I don't think it's as hard so it is easily cut/scratched??

Laminate vs polyurethane finish for bathroom vanity?

Thanks for that arms. I forgot to mention that we are going for a wall hung vanity for exactly the reasons you say. So you don't think the drawer edeges are particularly susceptible to damage - not just from bangs and bumps, but just long term wear and tear? Although poly can be any colour...

Laminate vs polyurethane finish for bathroom vanity?

Hi all, We are renovating our PPOR bathroom and we're not sure about the best type of finish for the vanity. Our choices seem to be a laminate finish (which gives us lots of colour choices), or a polyurethane/two pack (not sure of the correct terminology) finish, which is high gloss and...

    Owners Corporation maintaining private property

Thanks The Y-man. Due to family commitments I can't attend this AGM, so I guess I just need to keep an eye on things and if the local owners try anything on I'll just have to wear it for now and try to have some input in the future. John.

    Owners Corporation maintaining private property

Hi All, I have an IP unit in Melbourne, and the owner's coporation is putting up a resolution for vote at the AGM as follows: "The Owner's Corporation provides to members the service of maintaining those parts of the external windows and doors owned privately, not including internal...

    Digital photo prints

Yes, I have had a look at BigW. The web site is overloaded with unnecessary crap and it hung on me twice. But as far as I can tell they don't do one with digital proportions.

    Digital photo prints

Hi All, Does anyone know of an online photo printing company that will print digital photos onto 6 x 4.5 inch paper? Until recently we've been getting our digital photos printed at a local photo shop because they printed them on paper with the correct proportion, as well as keeping the...

Geek question: best solution for storage and backup of data?

Thanks for the suggestions everyone. I've not considered the DVD backup solution as I didn't want to deal with all those discs - I'm lazy, and I was hoping modern technology would come to my rescue. But I should probably consider it again. I'll also have a look at a tape backup solution...

Geek question: best solution for storage and backup of data?

Hi All, I currently have about 5GB of important stuff (data, photos, etc) on our home computer. I have been using the Mozy backup service for a year or so now, and it seems to be working fine (although I'll really find out if I have to do a restore). I'm about to transfer all of our digital...

Nundah, Chermside, Zillmere and surrounding Inner North Brisbane

I used to live in Stafford Heights (sort of next to Chermside West), and still own the property there as an IP. Everything you say is true but my only reservation about the area is that it does not have easy access to the train line. I would prefer Nundah over Chermside for that reason. I think...

    Europe in the summertime

Of course you could spend years travelling these countries, but depending on your interests here are a few of my suggestions: Morocco - sorry, never been there. Spain - the South is interesting because of the mix between the Christian and Islamic traditions. I loved Granada. If you're...

    Family holiday accommodation in Melbourne?

Hi All, We're going to Melbourne for a few days for a holiday at the end of Feb and we're looking for some reasonably priced accommodation (<$200/night is what I'm aiming for). Our three most important criteria are: 1. it must have two bedrooms (so we can get the kids to sleep without us having...

    Favourite Music

I love a mix including: 60s and 70s blues/rock/pop/folk - Beatles, Led Zeppelin, Cream, CCR, Stones, James Taylor, Hendrix, Queen, Santana etc, plus their "modern" equivalents like eg, Red Hot Chilli Peppers. Mainstream bebop jazz - Miles Davis, Coltrane, Wes Montgomery, etc And just...

I'm bored. Anyone know of some interesting sites?

Agree. There is rarely any news worth reading. A friend and I have thought about generating random news as a mashup of old stuff and putting it on a web page to see if anyone notices. John.

How to value a 5 acre development site

Hi All, A relative of mine owns about 5 acres of land to the North of Brisbane. Over the last couple of years the areas surrounding them have been developed, with the last set of houses being built right up to the boundary of their property. Assuming the property zoning allows it to be...
