hmm ... no waterproof and the leaking was only found when u cut the wall behind the shower wall.... after 20 years.... that's still very good protection from water leakage. I really wonder what they used in the past to protect bathrooms from the shower water.

Hi rockDr, the previous owner had the whole bathroom was renovated just 2 years ago as it was leaking back then. the shower floor and walls are tiled with 2 framed shower screens. here's the photo of the shower, its actually square but sale agent stretched the photo to make it appear...

BV, did your old shower have a plastic base or tiled base ? did the leak cause any damage to ur walls or structure ? plus it's a house on concrete slab right ? if only i have these basic handy skills ...would save alot of stress and cost...but yea never too late to learn ;)

Hi Fisherman, thanks for the advise. I just did today. Called NSW Consumer Affair(Sydney IP) and they say it is the builder's responsibility to fix it up however I must give him a chance to do so. If he is unwell and need a wait period while further damages occur then will be liable for them...

yes, i think u're right, i suppose after some bad experience the problem solving will get better and with less fear. i'm less afraid of tenant issues actually ... but more of unexpected things that could happen to the building as i know next nothing about repairs and how to fix stuff.
